Advantages: The pole comes with a good spares package. Disadvantages: Heavy and slightly floppy at full length.
...The 12.5 metre Shimano Aero Match Pole.
This pole has been out for quite a while now, and it was rolled on the famed 12.5 metre ex mandrel.
This pole is a good all rounder, that has a good spares package. Mine came with three spare top three's, and a match top three with the pole. Giving you four top three's in total. of which two were power tops and two were match tops.
The two match tops have a elastic rating of 1-8
The power tops have a elastic rating of 8-16, of which I only use the 10-12 through all three sections.
As with all midd price range poles, they are heavy at full length, and slightly floppy. This pole is no different, but I have found that I can still use it with ease at full length.
If you take one section off and use it at eleven metres, I find it a dream pole which is light, stiff and extremely responsive. I have...

Advantages: High stretch, resiliant, cheap, strong, good range of strengths and funky colours. Disadvantages: None none none
...get away, a shock absorbing system is required to fight back against their strong pulls. This is done by the angler threading a length of elastic (normally around 2m) through the top couple of sections of the carbon ‘pole’. This elastic pulls out from the inside of the pole as the fish pulls, meaning that it can run against the elastics resistance and tire itself (before the fisher dude pulls him in). Different strengths of elastic are available. When fishing for bigger fish you obviously need a stronger elastic.
Since I began my (boring I know) fishing exploits many many years ago, elastic development has gone quite a long way. While there used to be only 3 main manufacturers, it also used to be only white in colour. Nowadays, firstly after P.I introduced their ‘slip’ range (which had an external colour...

Advantages: Cheap and strong Disadvantages: None now that the improvements have been made
..., but the last section is more parallel so has to be stored separately. This is why the 2 rod tubes are needed. Also, the last section provides a useful storage space for the spare topkits they give you.
Spares
The number of spares they give you is always (a term used loosely) the same. I got the pole with 3 extra power top 2’s (4 extra duplicates of the top 2 sections of the pole – they allow you to have different elastics or different rigs attached to them). You will be provided with either ‘Match Top 3’s’ (lighter action with less strength for finer elastics), or ‘Power Top 2’s’ (stronger ones which are actually the same length of the usual top 3). The combination is often left up to you, or you can just find somewhere that will sell...

This is a simple yet truly innovative product, and the minute you start using it, you will wonder how you ever managed without it.
Most of us (and this certainly used to be me) probably think that we are adopting a fairly good skin care routine if we more
