I have been bowling now for about 3 years and curretnly average around the 175 mark. I play for Nottinghamshire and Lenton. For those of you who dont know, in bowling , bowlers usualy carry 2 or more balls.........one of these is a "spare" ball. For picking up spares. These balls are very shiney so they skid in the lane oil, and have little/no tendancy to hook. Where as a reactive ball contains a weightblock to make the ball "break" when it reachs dry boards, spare balls have a even block which distrabutes the wright of the ball evenly. On to the ball.......

I bought his ball about 4 months ago now, as I needed a new spare ball sine my old one had "worn out". I was looking in my local proshop and I came across this amxing item.

Most bowling balls are a single colour, a few mixed colur, but this one revolutionised the indusrty, never before had a manufacturer been able to make a ball out foa clear resin, so accuarately, with such effect. And the atual skull inside the ball looks incredible, even better when rolling down that 60ft of wood !

The ball cost me £100 including drilling, where as an ordinary spare ball would only set me back about £60. It hink the extra cash was worth as I have a quality spare ball. Apart from the actual appearnce of the ball, generally it does it job and goes as straight as an arrow.

The only quibbles I have about the ball are :

It does get dirty very quickly, or it appears so because of the see through material that the ball is composed off.

The attention it draws at a tournament backfires on you! When your lining up to make that crucial tenpin to win you the match, everyone is starring at you and your ball. The extra pressure can be off putting.

Some people say that the skull itself makes the ball roll unevenly, however I have had no experience of this.

So to summaires, if yourin the market for a new spare ball, and want to show off to your mates. Pick up an Ebonite Skull ball !

I think it is avaiable in all weights above 13lb. However be quick, Ebonite only made a limited number of these "boo balls".

Good review btw. Does this ball really go straight? A few people in the league have clear balls, the hammer - hammer and the Roto-grip spare tyre and I've seen those hooking - the spare tyre hooks like mad.

LOL, no the skull isnt real ! That would be a tad freaky. The thumb/finge holes can be drilled anywhere on the ball. Depends how much topweight the ball comes with.
