Effol Hoof Ointment strengthens the hooves and encourages healthy hoof growth. The hooves are strengthened and supported in their natural development. Effol Hoof Ointment makes the hooves more elastic thus protecting them against cracks even under extreme conditions. I have used Effol for years on all my horses young and old. Im not one that uses this everyday as it will just eventually ruin their hooves as they need moisture from the ground and air but occasionally a little something is needed especially in the summer season. Effoil ointment can come in two colour black or green and in two sizes large or small! Now my one horse as predominantly white feet and the other has all black feet now which colour! I opted for the green as both my horses have white/ dark grey legs so I thought green was least likely to stain and the black colour is a real coal colour!! I noticed that as soon as I applied it in the summer it went quite runny on the hoof as it had become warm from the sun but I could see after a few hours that it had been absorbed and even the dry mud hadnt really affected it. But once the pot was exposed to any level of heat it went very hot and the stuff inside went very wet and liquidy. I noticed during the Autumn that as soon as the cooler weather came it was easier to apply Effol but as soon as winter came the contents of the pot went rock hard! So you couldnt really win either way. But as its not that expensive and it did during the summer moisten my horses feet the effects really didnt bother me to much considering I dont use it every day!
