Advantages: Calculates calories burned off and miles walked, radio. Disadvantages: Sometimes seems pointless to use.
...it more seriously. The Eurohike Multi Function pedometers are about £15. Some have different functions for varying prices. Not all have a radio. Some have a panic alarm function. Either way they are inexpensive and you can chose one to fit your own requirements, if you feel you should need one. ...
