, which as long as I topped up at least £10 per month gave me 300 free text messages. There were various other offers by O2 and at one time I had free phone calls to a chosen landline number which was great.
In more recent years O2 have come up with a range of incentives including various options where you get free text messages if you top up a certain amount, as well as money back each month and "treats" where you can choose from a range of freebies such as free access to voicemail, more free texts etc.

to purchase an O2 Prepay sim card from the O2 store or online from their website. You can log onto www.ebay.co.uk (If you have an eBay account), where they are being sold for about £1 each so it makes it even more cost effective for you.
For an O2 contract and/or mobile phone then you will have to purchase one via the O2 store, alternatively there are other high street phone retailers (Phones4U/Carphone warehouse for example) that can connect you to the O2 network. The only alternative to this is to purchase online at www.o2.co.uk or over the telephone.

O2 as a network is superb; they offer me great deals and are very cost effective for my needs. I top up a mere £10 a month and always have credit remaining with taking advantage of their current 300 free texts offer.

Advantages: good prices, free messages on PAYG (with right sim card) Disadvantages: reception!
I've been with O2 on and off for about 7 years! My first O2 sim card was what is called a GENIE sim card and with this, providing you top up w ith ten pounds a month they give you three hundred free messages a month. admittedly it did start off as unlimited but once they saw you really were taking the mickey you got a text saying it was limited to 300, which is still good, as normally this would cost 30 pounds!
SIGNAL: This is the only disadvantage I really found with O2, is that sometimes their signal used to be a bit poor and you'd have to run around whilst on the phone trying to find a spot to make a call in and kinda stay there or move with the signal variance...which if you are in an emergency is not good at all!! I could never get a signal when I was at work, now some would say this was a good thing, but when you work in a bar ...
