, which as long as I topped up at least £10 per month gave me 300 free text messages. There were various other offers by O2 and at one time I had free phone calls to a chosen landline number which was great.
In more recent years O2 have come up with a range of incentives including various options where you get free text messages if you top up a certain amount, as well as money back each month and "treats" where you can choose from a range of freebies such as free access to voicemail, more free texts etc.

At one point I wanted to use a new O2 Sim card as my old one was quite battered and not totally compatible with a new phone that I had purchased. to purchase an O2 Prepay sim card from the O2 store or online from their website. You can log onto www.ebay.co.uk (If you have an eBay account), where they are being sold for about £1 each so it makes it even more cost effective for you.
For an O2 contract and/or mobile phone then you will have to purchase one via the O2 store, alternatively there are other high street phone retailers (Phones4U/Carphone warehouse for example) that can connect you to the O2 network. The only alternative to this is to purchase online at www.o2.co.uk or over the telephone.

O2 as a network is superb; they offer me great deals and are very cost effective for my needs. I top up a mere £10 a month and always have credit remaining with taking advantage of their current 300 free texts offer.

Advantages: in hindsight- NONE, well free phone I suppose Disadvantages: poor value, worse service, bad network
and still keep messing it up and costing my wife in bank charges due to their incompetence.
The biggest problem is there is no way of contacting O2 customer care without paying 50 pence per minute for the hassle of speaking to people who seemingly cannot competently do their job of caring for the customer.
This situation is still continuing with the latest bill being over £300 instead of £21 and O2 saying that we either cancel the direct debit or the money will go out of the account and not be returned for 3 weeks.
basically this is a bad tariff with poor value for money compared to other providers and lousy customer support
If I could turn back the clock I would only consider O2 for pay as you go!!! ...
