Unfortunately, the local bike-shop wouldn't match the on-line price from Wiggle, so Wiggle got my business. A £1,100 bike purchased for £770. I've now been riding it for 4 months and have covered more than 600 miles, mostly along a training route that I follow on local roads. Over that time I've definitely become quicker and fitter. My average speed has increased from 14mph to 18.5mph and, according to my hear-rate monitor, for roughly the same level of exertion. I believe that the bike has played a significant part in this improvement. It simply encourages you to go faster, rewarding every ounce of extra energy with increased speed. At the time we had all been taken to school on the local clapped out coach, dribbling out the back window watching the older boys with their shiney new mopeds (what hero's we thought ). Now we were the hero's , all 8 of us slip streaming the coach home,( what twats we were) all around me were fantic super T' s Ti's, caballeros, Garrelli 50's, Honda ss50's. All these bikes , barring the Honda, were faster than the Yam' on the flat (chin on tank ! ) 45 mph, but the great thing was, as soon as we all got to a hill, my position in the coach race went from...2nd last , to first place, due to the design of the Yams engine .
