Shimano SPD M072 Cycle Shoe to infinity and beyond
Review of Shimano MO72 by  skrg28

Advantages: Strong, well made, functional
Disadvantages: Nothing yet.

...SPD INTRO Shimano M072 shoes are SPD cycling shoes so here's a quick explanation of what SPD is. For those who may not know SPD stands for Shimano Pedaling Dynamic. All very nice I hear you say, so to explain they are Clipless pedals. Basically you get a pair of shoes, bolt on some clips to the shoes, get a pair of SPD pedals which are like a clamp, step on the pedals and your feet are locked to the pedals. Rotating your feet to the side then releases you from the pedal. (not as dangerous as it sounds). GENERAL Shimano mountain bike shoes have been around for a number of years now and in my opinion if you are a user of SPD pedals then you can't beat Shimano PSD shoes for reliability. I have used number if different types over the years, most of which I cant remember the name off and ones that usually found the bucket because... Read review

New shimano stopping power
Review of shimano xt disc brake system by  downhill_freak

Advantages: cheaper than contemporaries
Disadvantages: difficult hoses

...shimano, in using a new 4 pot system have moved into the league usually dominated by Hope. the 4 pot system gives greater power than two pot systems and doesnt overheat easily. the shimano is better than the hopes because it uses two cylinders to drive the pads rather than the one cylinder that the hope uses to drive all 4 pads. the shimanos are also a lot cheaper than other systems with comparible performance, although they need expensive hubs, making them more expensive than the hope open 2s. the braided hoses are bombproof but need to be precut and the levers give superb modulation and good feel.... Pedal Power
Review of Shimano A530 SPD Single Sided Touring Pedals by  trevorbrock

Advantages: Perfect for sporting or casual use.
Disadvantages: None

...into the mechanism, and an outward movement of the heel to release it. The problem tackled by Shimano in the late 1980's, was how to have a shoe with a cleat bolted to the sole, which could also allow the owner to walk on the path !? The firm's solution is a smaller cleat which is bolted to a recess in the shoe and acts as part of the shoe tread when walking rather than cycling. So was invented the SPD - the Shimano Pedalling Dynamics - worth explaining because SPD can stand for all sorts of other things too.! 3 The Pedal Itself These pedals are beautifully light - less than 200 grams of aluminium each, and finished in an alloy colour that matches Shimano's other bike parts. They are easily fitted - the only tool needed being a crank spanner which is easily and cheaply obtained in any bike shop. They are marked as right and left... Read review
