Advantages: Excellent performance in wet/muddy conditions, rim friendly, good wear rates Disadvantages: Pricier than the competition
the wet, and while there is a drop off in performance, it is nowhere near as much as with other brands that I have tried.
In mud these pads really do come into their own. They are the only v-brakepad that I have tried that provide any braking at all when covered in mud. Mud is extremely abrasive, and every time you apply the brakes you are applying a grinding paste to your delicate aluminium rims. Before I changed over to the Kool Stops, my Avid Rim Wranglers lasted as little as 2 months, and also managed to wear my rear rim past the wear markers in under 9 months. With the Kool Stops, not only is the braking vastly improved, but my rims show significantly less wear.
The other small advantage you get is the cartridge pads are a bit easier than the blocks to replace - pull out circlip, press out old pad, push in new pad, replace circlip ...
Advantages: Great layout, comfortable and easy to use. Disadvantages: Confusing marketing, crappy D-pad. (wires)
about anywhere with its discreet minimalistic looks.
Layout:
On the top of the pad you have the two triggers RT: right trigger and LT: left trigger, the triggers are used most commonly in shooter games which they are well suited for simulating firing a weapon. The triggers are also great for driving games as you can use one trigger for accelerating and one for the brakes. Then you have the replacements for the black and white buttons on the original Xbox controller, the right and left bumpers RB and LB. They can be used for any number of things from casting a spell, to quick selecting a weapon. At the top left and bottom right of the controller you have the analogue sticks, this placement is very comfortable and makes playing shooters much more enjoyable. The D-pad is located just below the left analogue stick and is great for quick ...
Advantages: Wireless, dont have to get up to turn on/off console Disadvantages: Runs on battteries so you need a plug and charge kit really
of a button on the controller and we have one of the best pads on the market.
It may not be as comfortable as the PS2 or PS3 pads in my opinion but it does fit very well into your hands and feels quite natural (if thats possible). The buttons are all in easy to access spots so you shouldn't have any problems using combinations of buttons, with the trigger buttons working very well in driving games with them being pressure sensitive.
The batteries dont last a massive amount of time but a plug and charge kit soon sorts that problem.
Overall one of the best controllers out there. ...
