Advantages: Good in difficult slopes, accurate handling in most situations
Disadvantages: Handling in high speed not most accurate

...Based on my experience, Fischer Alltrax Border-X is a good carver for advanced users. I have used it in standard downhills (not off from the slopes) and it offers good grip from the slope. The handling in high speed is, however, not the most accurate in the market. Fischer Alltrax Border-X is pretty durable and it most likely will last for a long time. Mine are >2 years old and they are in good shape. Hardnes is only average eventhough it contains Fischer Vacuum inner. ...Ok, first I should make it clear that although I'm writing an op for the Kona Manomano bike I only actually run the FRAME from the '98 Manomano bike which I picked up while working at my local mountain bike shop a couple of years ago now. The bike had been stripped down for various parts leaving the frame which I snapped up for a fair sum (£450). I now, and have been for the last 2/3 years, running it as a freeride/downhill rig and I have to say, its perfect. As I'm not one for hucking off cliffs and/or houses the 7005 ally structure is quite strong enough and the fox vanilla rear shock provides 3.5" of plush, lovely suspension even when I havent cleaned out the pivot bushings for ages and I've been riding it in British winter weather!? I run it with 5" Stratos FR4 dual-crown forks and various other dh gubbins such as MRP chain... Read review

Advantages: Light, excellent grip, fast rolling
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive, can puncture easily

...I have had a pair of these on my XC bike for about a year now and they perform brilliantly. They are very fast rolling and they provide excellent grip on medium to dry trails and the corner knobs allow the bike to be leaned right over into fast corners without sliding out. Although the tyres are a fairly soft compound they still last a decent amount of time on the road too so there are no worries of them wearing down too quickly if commuting to trails over a long distance. Their low weight ensures that they accelerate quickly and make climbing a breeze. There are only 2 downsides I can see with these tyres. First is the cost (although if you want quality they're not a lot more than the competition).
