Review of Shakespeare Summit Fly by
duck1979
Advantages: Cheap, Stylish, well made
Disadvantages: None
...I could afford, preferably from Shakespeare (my favourite brand for Rods & Reels, as they excel at making quality rods&reels @ value for money prices).
The plan for the reel, was to blow the remaining money on a cheap fly reel..... either the Shakespeare MUSTANG, or the Shakespeare PROFESSIONAL.. then worry about the fly line & backing later in the year when I got my birthday money.... but then the guy in the tackle shop suggested one of these Shakespeare ... ...in the business - The Shakespeare company was founded in the United States in 1897 (109 years ago), and the British operation became the Shakespeare UK operation around 1965 (41 yrs ago) when they bought a company called "TOPP TACKLE", which apparently included the manufacturing operations of 2 even older tackle companies. One of them being "S Allcock & Co. Ltd" of Redditch in Worcestershire, whose origins go back as far as 1880 (that's 126years ...

Review of Shakespeare Ganza rear-drag reel (2403) by
duck1979
Advantages: 2 spools, 2 handles, looks good
Disadvantages: nothing major
...forking out vast wads of folding stuff to get a Shimano, and also Shakespeare are one of the oldest tackle manufacturer's in the business, with 108years of experience under their belts (1897 to present).... so know a thing or two about making tackle, having created many FIRSTS in tackle manufacturer. ...

Excellent reel. Best baitrunner on the market.
Review of Shimano Baitrunners by
seaweed78
Advantages: Best proven baitrunner on the market, rear drag switch...
Disadvantages: Not that I am complaining off. Maybe a free spool would be nice.
Recently purchased ny second shimano baitrunner. Had a smaller one (3500 series), love it and not get a biggie (6500 series) for sea angling. This baitrunner had been around for so many years, yet the design has not evolve much. mainly due to it was already perfect as it is. Black, squarish, there are no phisical attraction, but functionality and the power that it hold make it all worth it and I can't think of any better model to replace this baitrunners. ... ...last forever too. I think Shimano is the first one who invent this rear drag switch thing and pattented the 'baitrunner' name too, I think. When I did sea fishing, my favorite method are live-baiting for mid/ top water species and bottom fishing for bottom/ near bottom dwellers. Live-baiting is self-explainatory, free-lining. There are two drag to set, baitrunner drag can switched-on for minimal drag and front drag pre-set for hook up. Having resistance ...

Ideal Shore reel.
Review of Daiwa Emcast Plus Big Pit Reel by
seaweed78
Advantages: Good casting distance, high speed retrieval, comfortable handle, good power
Disadvantages: Outer finishing seems not lasting too long.
...certainly meet my demand. With daiwa tag on it and 11 corrosian resistance bearing, it was properly suited my taste. I coupled this reel with 10' DAM uptide rod (4 - 10 oz casting weight) and with Power Pro braided line (red). I might had went too far on the line selection, I would recomment mono line as my finger a bit sore everytime after quite a few cast. With tide that twisted the leader, I spent quite some time on getting it entangled. But, ... ...rod but with Digigeared powered Daiwa reel. With 3' handicapped, this reel really make a difference in casting. The retrieving feel very smooth. The power is there. Hauling big fish is not an issue for this fish. This reel actually retrieve about 40" per handle turn. Can't afford a Shimano Stella, but I will bring along this reel for my high speed jigging at some point this year. ...

Makes fishing fun and stress free
Review of Shimano Baitrunner Aero Gte B by
mattz
Advantages: Stylish, easy to use, well made and very durable
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
I recently purchased 2 Shimano 8000 GTE-B baitrunners and wow how have I managed to fish before without them. I'm yet to find a fault with them. With the ability to adjust the baitrunner and drag with ease and my casting distances have increased dramatically enabling me to fishing in areas that were unreachable with my previous reels. Yes they cost £74.99 per reel but they last for years (My dad has had a pair for 12 years and they are still quality). ... ...drive shaft meets the pinion. Shimano designers have overcome this by reducing a large percentage of surface area contact and incorporating bearings on either side of the shaft. The resultant design leaves the shaft in a floating position, considerably improving efficiency and longevity.
Power Roller Shimano's Power Roller dramatically reduces line twist, prolonging the useful life of your reel line and improving casting performance.
