Advantages: Best proven baitrunner on the market, rear drag switch...
Disadvantages: Not that I am complaining off. Maybe a free spool would be nice.

Recently purchased ny second shimano baitrunner. Had a smaller one (3500 series), love it and not get a biggie (6500 series) for sea angling. This baitrunner had been around for so many years, yet the design has not evolve much. mainly due to it was already perfect as it is. Black, squarish, there are no phisical attraction, but functionality and the power that it hold make it all worth it and I can't think of any better model to replace this baitrunners. ...
...last forever too. I think Shimano is the first one who invent this rear drag switch thing and pattented the 'baitrunner' name too, I think. When I did sea fishing, my favorite method are live-baiting for mid/ top water species and bottom fishing for bottom/ near bottom dwellers. Live-baiting is self-explainatory, free-lining. Disadvantages: Outer finishing seems not lasting too long. Quality deterioriate after some time.

This reel had every features that you wanted from a shore reel. From ergonomic handle, high speed, retrieving power and long cast. I wrote a good review about this reel before but today I am taking it back. It is simply because this reel had no durability as demanded. The Shimano Baitrunner 10 000 XTE is by far (in my opinion) the best multi-purpose specimen Carp reel on todays market. A piece of quality engineering this reel is built from a hybrid Aluminium body making it extremely tough and durable and features 7 ball bearings for a smooth running performance. I have had a set of these for a couple of years now and have fished small English lakes to large gravel pits in France and they have never let me down. ...
...never a problem to me! Shimano also supply this reel complete with a spare spool (both aluminium, two in total) and the balanced double handle is ambidextrous/inter-changeable. The baitrunner facility is an excellent feature and has its own adjustable drag (independent to the main drag). Shimano seem to be a very perfessional company and supply a full 2 year warranty with this product although I have not needed it!! In conclusion an excellent performing ... Read review

where do i start about this reel, what a cracker. in my opinion it truelly is a great reel. Coming from shimano's range of big pit reels and very similair to the previous best selling bio master, the xsa carries many new and improved features. There are many features on the reel which include # it has a ratio of 4.6:1(reserves a good deal of cranking power) # line capacity of 350yards of 17lb line(ideal for long range casting) # dyna balance ...
