Can they go the distance?
Advantages: Good price, nice to play fish on, good name Disadvantages: Cant cast long distances
Having looked at a few rods around this price range, i was very interested in these, they looked good quality and and had the name to go with it.
I got them home and chucked on my reels and they seemed to balance up fairly nicely.
I got them to the bank and being a small lake i just chucked them out about 40 yards, and they were lovely, getting a fish on they were very nice to play fish on even being 3lb tc.
The only problem i have found is distance ...

Solid lure rod
Advantages: great for most situations Disadvantages: Not the best for long range due to length
This rod has a casting weight of 60-110 grams, and is 7ft in length, it is suited for the largest of lures and medium sized jerk baits. Braid wise you want to be looking at 50-65lb breaking strain. Couple this with a nice heavy trace, personally i use around 80lb for the bigger lures, and you are rocking and rolling. Its a great rod and can handle a wide variety of lures, so with one of these, and a ligher rod, somthing like 10-40 gram casting weight, ... ...are likely to come across. Its a good length, especially for tight work on both rivers and lakes, and is especially suited for boat work, as its not too cumbersome...
Casting lures it is great, some rods are way under rated or over rated, but this seems about right, you could go 10 - 20 grams either side of the casting weight, and it wont feel to bad at all.
As with most lure rods, they are not the best to play fish on, as most are like broom sticks, ...

Broomsticks - Not the 13ft 3lbs Fox Extreme rods
Advantages: very strong yet light with good feel Disadvantages: Can be a handful in tight swims
...across a pair of the Fox Extreme rods whilst looking for a pair of rods for an up and coming trip to France. I went to a local dealer to ask for something heavy duty that wasn't a fortune. The intention was to use these rods purely for my trips abroad and nothing else.
I was showed the Extremes and was instantly amazed at how slim and light they were. They also felt very well balanced. In addition they were a nice matt grey finish and looked quite ... ...my pod.
The dealer offered me the pair for £150 since he had vast numbers that were not shifting. Getting two rods with an RRP of £140 each for £150 was a deal that I could not refuse. If I didn't like them I could just chuck them on Ebay and get my money back.
Upon arrival at the lake in France I eagerly set up. Obviously the first thing to do is to put a single bait on each rod, chuck them out and then take time puttting up the bivvy, sorting ...

Top rod
Advantages: Great value, Slim design, high quality fittings Disadvantages: None
Holding this rod in your hand you could really think you were holding a rod worth well over £200, and when you find it is less than £100 you realise what a great value bit of kit this really is.
A super slim blank makes the rod look great and understated markings really make it feel like a custom built rod.
I use the 3lb tc model and it really is a superb all rounder, the rod really can cast, hitting 100 yards with ease and going well over that ... ...is not too stiff so you suffer hook pulls.
It is finished to a very high quality, with full fuji rings, with a well proportioned 40mm butt ring, couple this with a FUJI DNPS reel seat, you can tell it is a quality piece of kit, worth well over its price tag.
Add to this a really neat butt cap with a slim butt section. A handy 12" marker on the rod and you can really tell how much thought has gone into the production of this mid market rod,
If ...

PERFECTION
Advantages: The best fish playing rod out there Disadvantages: Struggles with real long range stuff
The best rod out there. In my opinion anyway, there are way to many rods designed for punching leads to the horizon that are like a broom when playing a fish and often results in hook pulls. Not good when getting takes in the first place is hard enough.
But this rod is really perfection, the tip is soft enough so you can enjoy the fight and not pull the hooks, but in the butt section is plenty of power in reserve so when needed you know its there. ... ...around the 100 yard mark without too much hassle and im not the best caster in the world.
These really allow you to enjoy your fishing, i have landed all sorts on these. From little 6 pound wild carp to 30 plus whackers, I love them...
Apart from these, the overall finish is awsome, the high quality fuji rings, and super sexy full duplon butt section. Minimal graphics and a neat line clip make it look and feel like a custom made rod worth over ...
