Rod and a half
Review of M.A.P 13' Hollow Tip Match Rod by
BJEEE
Advantages: Allrounder
Disadvantages: Bit too bendy if that makes sense
M.A.P was started a few years ago now. I am yet to see a bad product from the company (Midland Angling Products). It consists of joint efforts from Leeda, FOSTERS fishing shop in Birmingham, and well known match ace - Dave Harrell, their chief tester).
The range is now qite huge, and I bought this rod actually not knowing much about it. I went for it beacuse of the good reputation the make has, and also it's classification as an allround match rod.
... ...catch a lot of carp on my travels (in fact, most of the waters down here in Cornwall, hold them as the predominent species), mostly upto about 8lbs. But then there's always those times in winter when you're even finding it hard to catch even the smallest of roach. So I needed something soft yet strong.
This rod pefectly suits both, although with those big carp over about 7lb, you do lose a bit of control. When you hit the flat spot (maximum amount ...

Fox Warrior
Review of Fox warrior xt carp rods by
whitby_qpr
Advantages: Cheap and very effective
Disadvantages: none
...such as fox. Having brought fox products before I have never been disappointed by the quality so when I realised fox where producing such a cheap rod I felt I had to try it. To be honest it was so inexpensive that I doubted it at first when I definitely shouldn't of but now I have it I have caught many carp on it the biggest being 36lb. It handles all fish exceptionally well as absorbs most of the pressure so you don't have to. Casting wise again ...

Best back up rod
Review of Shimano exage stc spinning by
seaweed78
Advantages: Very good flex distribution for multi-piece rod
Disadvantages: Handle and guide could be better for its price
...vey good achievement for the Shimano research team. It almost feel like 1 piece rod. I have taken this rod for crappie coarse fishing, spinning, carp fishing and even casting for mackerel from shore. It serve me best on my spinning session where I hooked up bunch of double figure pike. Due to its stiff flex, it is nice to use this rod to give a reasonable hard strike to hook the fish, but I am always struggling on landing carps on this rod. I paired ... ...me 2 quid to repair) and the handle is not firm enough for my liking. But for such flex distribution on multipiece rod, I guess that is not much better option out there. I wish that Shimano will improve this aspect and perhap put SIC guide rather than aluminum oxide. ...

Broomsticks - Not the 13ft 3lbs Fox Extreme rods
Review of Fox Extreme Carp Rods 13ft 3lbs tc by
yackers1
Advantages: very strong yet light with good feel
Disadvantages: Can be a handful in tight swims
...across a pair of the Fox Extreme rods whilst looking for a pair of rods for an up and coming trip to France. I went to a local dealer to ask for something heavy duty that wasn't a fortune. The intention was to use these rods purely for my trips abroad and nothing else.
I was showed the Extremes and was instantly amazed at how slim and light they were. They also felt very well balanced. In addition they were a nice matt grey finish and looked quite ... ...my pod.
The dealer offered me the pair for £150 since he had vast numbers that were not shifting. Getting two rods with an RRP of £140 each for £150 was a deal that I could not refuse. If I didn't like them I could just chuck them on Ebay and get my money back.
Upon arrival at the lake in France I eagerly set up. Obviously the first thing to do is to put a single bait on each rod, chuck them out and then take time puttting up the bivvy, sorting ...
