I have been going to fitness first now for about 6 months after it was recommended to me by my mum who has been going for several years.

I feel that is very reasonable and I got membership for only £29.00 p/month and I can go anytime (cheaper packages restrict you to peak/off peak etc)

The gym is very well equipped with ample treadmills, bikes and cross trainers for when it is very busy. It also has every machine you can think of for working your legs, arms, abs etc.
There is also a mini gym where you can workout away from the hustle and bustle of the main gym if its a bit busy. In there it has mats on the majority of the floor if you need space to workout with gym balls, hand weights etc (all of which are provided and there is a good selection of different weights and different sized gym balls to choose from). This room also has one of a wide selection of machines to provide a full body work out.
They also have another excercise room. This is used mainly for classes but if its free you can go in there to work out. This room is equipped with weights, gym mats, balls, boxing glovesbags and pads and steppers.

The gym hold many different classes ranging from boxercise and salsa dancing to weight training.

The gym also has a sauna and sunbeds. Everyone is welcome to use these facilities but sunbed sessions are charged at extra cost.

Once you have finished your workout there is a chill out area by reception with a few sofas chairs and tables etc. There is free coffee, tea and cold beverages available for all at all times of the day. They also have numerous magazines and daily newspapers available. There are energy drinks and snacks available but you are charged for these.

The gym has a video/dvd club where you can rent video/dvd\'s off them at a small cost. All the video/dvd\'s available are displayed in the chillout area.

Another great feature of the gym is the changing rooms. Obviously being female I can only really detail what ours are like but I am sure the gents are just as good.
The changing rooms have been done out very well with neutral slabbed flooring and dark wooded changing cubicles and lockers. There are also ironing boards and irons available if you happen to be going straight out from the gym. There are hairdryers provided at no extra cost. These are placed at pleasant dressing tables with chair and mirrors. There are also toilet and shower facilities. The lockers can again be used at no extra cost. The lockers also have an alarm system that is set by your membership card being swiped over the door. So god forbid someone did try to gain entry to your locker they would be able to know whose property was in there!

In my experience I have always found the gym and facilities to be clean and pleasant.

The staff are all very friendly and would do anything to help. It is nice to get service with a smile!!

The gym offers personal training at £20.00 per/hour. There is a bill board in reception showing all the personal trainers with contact details and all there qualifications an experience helping you to find the perfect trainer for yourself.
I have personally opted for personal training and I have it once a week. I would highly recommend this as it really motivates you, can make you feel good about yourself and the trainer can help devise a work out plan and make sure you keep varietying your workout so you don\'t get bored. (Especially if your like me; 10 minutes on the treadmill and I\'m bored)

In my opinion the one thing that lets this gym down is it doesn\'t have a pool. Swimming is another sport I love and I think it would make a difference if they did have a pool.

But overall this is a fantastic gym it is very friendly, clean, well equipped and has disables facilities.
