Advantages: All women, all helpful, all motivational and all friendly Disadvantages: it's a gym ain't it
Fresh start fitness for women has just opened in Glasgow city centre. Part of the fitness first empire, it is a woman only gym. The aim is to build a safe enviroment so that all women can find a sactuary away from stress, media images of the thin and beautiful and excercise with all the help and encouragement they need to feel good about themselves. Having finally shed my 3st 9lbs(yes thats right) with my national slimming club membership i decided ... ...cause be it to increase fitness levels or shed the pounds. Past experience has taught me that this does give you the extra boost to meet your goals.
The gym also boasts an aromatherapy steam room, the nicest changing room i have ever seen (with the world's biggest lockers) and seperate shower cubicles( I am a prood and proud).

When I first joined Fitness First For Women, I thought I had found everything I wanted in a gym. And never had any problems with the club itself.
But being a student, one is always looking for cheaper, better value for money options. When I found out the University Gym was only £30 a YEAR with a swimming pool and free classes, I decided to leave Fitness First. I received no letter confirming that my membership had been cancelled after writing to ... ...Debt Recovery Agency working for Fitness First has sent me a letter demanding £181!!!! Absolutely raging I called Fitness First to ask if this was a mistake. They checked on the computer and assured me it was. And I could just ignore it. This time taking no chances, my mother called the Debt Recovery Agency for me (I had lectures). They were extremely rude and unprofessional. Telling my mum to "shut up" and that they were "coming for their money". ...

Advantages: women only, not overcrowded, variety of machines, lovely staff Disadvantages: communal showers, could be cleaner
I love this new gym, I have lost 1 stone in 3 months. This week the cycles and rowers arrived and now I feel that I can vary my workout each time I go. It is relaxing and friendly.
There is one slight problem. The gym isn't as clean as it could be. The cross trainer bases are covered in dust, no-one regularly goes round and removes empty bottles and tissue from the little slots on the machines, the showers can contain nasty stuff, the toilets are ...
