Advantages: safe bit of gear, great forwall use and beginners
Disadvantages: can just be awkward and annoying - especially outdoors

...just before i begin, just like to point out those who dont climb might not understand much of what im taking about. sorry, it just really helps if you do. i brought the belay master to help keep rope and stuff that little bit tidier on those long multi-pitch routes. it basically consists of two parts, an HMS screw gate and a strange little plastic bit that clips over both sides to divide the crab in half along its length the HMS screw gate is actually that little bit heavier than other gates on the market (only by a few grams, but it all adds up!). but feeling it in your hand, it becomes clear that it is a strong robust piece of kit. and it does what every screw gate on the market does, and is built to a very high standard. however, compared to other HMS gates this one is a little smaller and so the gates opening arc is a little... ...I am now onto my 3rd Masuri and its the best on the market once you have got the foam pads in the correct position for you its so easy to wear and this latest one has the titanium grill and for my money it is well worth the extra. My first 2 and the C&D that I had before that all had steel grills and I could never see the point of the extra expence of the titanium grill until now, having had a good start to the season personally I am realy noticing that I am feeling much freasher later in my innings than I remember last year with the steel grill. Perhaps its psycological and I am trying to justify the extra expence but I do honestly feel better and even if it is only in my head I am more than happy that I took the plunge and spent the extra cash. I usually sell my helments on to the juniors at our club and already have a waiting list... Read review

...After trying on both the Masuri Test with the standard grill and the Masuri Test with the Titanium grill I could really see no difference. The standard steel grill has been improved for the 2006 season and is similar in weight to the titanium and offers equal protection, and that is why you will see many pros wearing the steel grill. The helmet itself is also extremely light, and is very comfortable. The padding and adjustable hend and neck straps mean that the helmet is one size fits all, which is extremely beeficial when your heads grows but the helmet is till in good condition.
