...set and guys are cruising around on Orange Hitman's, MsIsle's, DMR's, GT's, and you turn up on a Saracen. I must admit Saracen are the underdogs in the biking enthusiast world, but are trying to create new image, especiall with the 05 range, there are some decent parts on there. Plus, be warned if you are planning to put a hydraulic reardiscbrake on, the cable guides are not designed for hydraulic hoses, so you can either buy adapters for around £5 or use zip ties, and that the discbrake bosses are usesless, the measurements are wrong, placing the discbrake too far across to that the whole caliper catches on the left side, the place where you cant adjust it, it's fixable, just requires planeing away 1mm or so from the frame, until it runs smoothly.
I have had real trouble with the front discbrake, it was useless, i'd rather save...

Advantages: Price, Ride, Street Cred !! Disadvantages: Hard seat for long rides !
...Having used an MBK Raider hartdail for the last 10 years, and seeing all this new suspension technology coming in, I was tempted to purchase a new Mountain Bike. After looking at all the options :- hardtail, front suspension only, front and rear suspension, I decided to go for the Claud Butler Karve Full Suspension Bike. The price was £400, and for this you get an all alloy frame and rear swingarm, front Suntour MG81 with preload adjusters and disc mounts, rear RS-I alloy shock, Alivio 24 speed with Acera STI shifters, front Grimeca cable disk brake, rear Vuelta alloy 'v' brake, Tioga aheadset, Vuelta tyres and Airline 1 rims, Zoom stem, QR front and rear, QR seatpost plus Tioga Multi Control 2 seat with Kevlar sided panels (which can be a bit painful on long rides! ) (phew !!). The ride itself it very lively, giving great control...

Advantages: good for off-roading Disadvantages: no rear suspention
...you get an Aluminium hardtail frame, In-Sync forks, Dia Compe brakes, a chainset which is half LX half LX Deore and a hell of a lot of other components for various other things.
The frame which is an aluminium hardtail (with no suspension) is nice and light and is forgiving enough to take some of the sting out of the trail. The only real criticisms here are fairly minor, there's no reardiscbrake mount and on the smaller frames, it can be difficult to use a water bottle as the bottle mount is a little too far up the downtube. apart from that i'm quite impressed. Its great for offroading, and not too dificult to clean afer a muddy day out. especially for the price....
