Advantages: easy to put up, quality, size inside, price Disadvantages: size when stored, no porch.
...I already own 2 "normal" tents, but went on a 7 day bike race where i needed to put up and take down the tent 7 days in a row. I splashed out £45 for a "pop-up" tent. The thought of it errecting itself was very appealing!!
Sceptical at first, I popped the tent out of it's bag and pegged it down with 4 pegs.....job done......in about 60 seconds. I couldn't believe it could be so easy!!!! Once the tent is up it is like any other, with an inner and outer sheets (don't go for the cheap single skin ones). It has vent to help reduce condensation, although some did form, but then i've never been in a tent where there was no condensation!!!
The one I have is a 2 man version which accommodates 1 person + luggage with ease and would accommodate 2 people with some luggage.
This tent took on some heavy rain and wind in the 7 days i...

...Apparantly Posh Spice does 200 sit-ups a day...has she not heard of the Slendertone Flex??
I am a fairly energetic young lady, with a clothes size of 14 on top and 12 from the waist down....makes buying dresses a nightmare, but heh that's another story. So while not possessing a big tummy I am prone to the horrid "folds" effect around my waist. A tight top may look nice when I am standing up tall, but when I then sit down and everything accordions together it tends to ruin the effect. And although all of us are prone to folds when we sit down (apart from the 11 supermodels amongst us in the world) I tend to be fairly paranoid about it and sit with my arms firmly crossed so as to lessen the appearance of the folds (though lending myself a rather stern, non-approachable demeanour I presume!).
After visiting my fiance's folks last...

Advantages: Stable, value for money, excellent customer services Disadvantages: Too heavy for backpacking
...bag so you cannot lose them! There are 3 flexible poles, which are colour coded to make it really easy to see where to put the poles. The poles are now on the outside of the tent, which means you don't have to pick the whole thing up and turn it over once you've threaded the poles in. You have the option of putting the poles in two different eyelets, and I have not yet worked out which is better. The pegs are very lightweight but they work. There are lots of guy ropes, these are very useful in bad weather but you probably don't need all of them in use when the weather is nice.
Weather
This tent comes into its own in the wind. The tension bands (TBS stands for tension band system) keep the shape of the tent, and the guy ropes keep the tent on the floor. I have been snug while listening to other people's tents blowing away...
