...I had owned an older model of the cannondale chase 2, i think it was the 2004 one and it was excellent, only flaw being the avid cable disc brakes which i had to upgrade. I had had this for a while and thought of getting a new bike so i looked at the cannondale range as i liked my old one so much. I saw the chase 2 2007 model and fell in love with it. Among the strengths is the chase hardtail frame which is chunky, made from cnc machined 6061 aluminium which is mega strong and has nice simple graphics. Also the ISGC BB is great as it give you a better ability to keep the chain on when used with a suitable chain guide and single ring at the front. The forks are an upgrade from the 2004 model. The 100mm Marzochi dirt jump 3s are slightly better than the manitou stance 100mm which used to rock bottom if used for jumps. Although... Read review

Advantages: Top quality kit

...Being a mountain bike mad man I decided it was time to get a new bike. Shopping around for a bike these days gets complicated with the huge variety of bikes you can buy and for a wide price range. Me being me I like the hard tail mountain bikes. That's a bike without rear suspension. If your on recreational cycling or after some sport competition then a hard tail is a good choice for a reasonable choice. THE BIKE HOW MUCH and CHOOSING IT Anyways, after much decision making I finally went for the Specialised Rockhopper Comp Disc 2007 bike. At £749 this for me is actually not a bad price bearing in mind you can get bikes for £4000 plus. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but its worth it for that little extra upgrade over the model below. I went for the Rockhopper because I know it has a good all round reputation... ...Specialized Epic Comp 2007. This bike is owned by my husband, and I recently trialled it as I was upgrading from a Specialized FSR Comp 2006. From reading reviews about this bike it is marketed as a XC race bike, and could be a bit twitchy on the downhill’s. Also knowing the people that I know that ride them they are all very fast and technically competent riders, so when looking into buying this bike I assumed that it would be too difficult for me to ride and that a stumpjumper would be suited to me. So on trialling both the stumpjumper and the epic and found that the epic suited me a lot better, I found that it climbed really well due to a more hardtail set up of the bike but I also found that it was really good on the downhill as well. So if you thinking about getting a new bike I definitely recommend considering an epic... Read review
