I brought this as my last bike, a saracen, died on me, it was really in a terrible mess! I brought this for £400 in Halfords, which is a pretty good deal for what you get. The technician was very helpful in there, otherwise I probably would have brought a bike from a Local Bike Store.
So, what do you get for your £400 here? Well, a light and strong bike, with hyrdaulics, 24 gears, thick tyres, nice wheels with strong spokes. "GT Triple Triangle Aluminium frame with butted tubes Suntour XCR 100mm travel fork with hydraulic rebound damping and on the fly lock-out Tektro Auriga Comp hydraulic disc brakes 180/160mm rotors Shimano Deore/ Alivio 24 speed gearing Truvativ Isoflow chainset Tioga Factory XC tyres WTB SX24 rims SDG Bel Air saddle GT over size bar and stem" All in all, a good bike for you money. So far, been so good. My main complaint about this bike though, is that the front gearing system has no guard on it, when there really should be. This means that your trousers can get caught in the chain much easier, and even the chain came off to the right, which seems to have messed up the chain a bit. Hopefully this will be sorted when I take the bike in for the safety check.
The forks are fairly good, only 100mm of travel, but it does work well. And having the lockout on the handlebars really does help when you want to ride uphill, so not so much energy is lost.
The brakes work well, though can be a bit noisy at times.
The feel of the bike is overall good, and a nice ride.
It works fairly well off road as well as on, and downhill is great, got to 38mph the other day.
Advantages: Solid frame, very good brakes and smooth gears. Disadvantages: Tyres are too chunky for road riding, if thats what your into.
...The great thing about the GT is that it has a lock-out on the forks which makes riding on roads a bit easier. I find this useful as i commute on it. I chose a mountain bike because i prefered the riding position and the fact i can take it off-road if i so choose. The tyres that come on the bike are chunky enough for off roading but for road riding they have a fair bit of rolling resistance, i swapped mine over for a set of semi-slicks for road riding. ...

Advantages: Strong Frame and Wheels, Tyres do not let go Disadvantages: None really!!
Bought this bike with my work cycle to work scheme.
A great buy from Halfords.
Excellent speck for the price and a very strong bike. I'm 18st 10 (253 ibs) and in my opinion this bike can handle this weight easily.
Great colour Black with like a Pearlesent White, Very good speck components, Shimano Deore derauillers and Sram Truvatic Crank. Hydrolic Brakes and Discs. These will stop you instantly and do tare a little time to get used to or a flight ... ...in Muck and Water for the first few occasions, but when used this disapates.
Wheels are Alex DP17 rims, Strong, Maxxis Ingnitor Tyres Grip like hell.
Suntour XCR forks are ok for Cross Country riding, Not a great Jump fork, but hey Im no Jumper! (I think that if yoiu are lighter than me you could have some safe landings with these.
Very Very pleased with this Bike! ...

Advantages: Well built, good performace, Disadvantages: None so far...
I have recently bought this bike from Halfords and I am very pleased with it. I originally had an old Raleigh bike, and after that broke on me after many years of use, I decided it was time to treat myself and get a new bike. I did abit of research and landed on this bike. I'm glad I did. The bike looks like it means business. It has front suspension with a lock out facility, which is especially useful when climbing uphill. The Shimano Deore gears ... ...so far. Even the hydraulic gears work silently. The price did frighten me at first, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for I recommend buying a heavy duty lock for it aswell. I am very pleased with this bike, so much so that I am hopefully going to compete in the London to Brighton Cycle RIde this year. ...

This bike has a really good spec, XT rear mech excellent proformer the only thing that lets it down is the tyres they are a bit prone to punctures when used on road and are really only for off road use. i think that the forks are a bit on the heavy side but still work grate. for the price range would be hard to beat this spec. in my opinion the bike rides really well on cross country trails and is vary smooth and well balanced. i have used my bike ...

Advantages: Aluminium Frame, Good gear set, looks ace! Disadvantages: no rear suspension
This bike has got fantastic geometry and is therefor a very comfortable ride. The tripple triange frame is very solid and the bike goes where you point it. When i bought the bike it came with 27 gears, cable disc brakes,(which will soon be upgraded), and some decent shocks. So far i love it!!
the bike looks ace too. What a visually pleaseing piece of design.
Great bike to upgrade. Starting components are reasonable as u get what u pay for, in this ...
