Garmin Geko 201 GPS Features: Geko 201 and its counterpart, Geko 301, are among the smallest and lightest WAAS-enabled GPS navigators - inexpensive, with simple, intuitive operation. Track Back: When you\'re winding your way through new territory, you don\'t have to worry about how to get back when you\'re armed with the Geko 201. Geko keeps track of your path and displays it as a tiny dotted trail on the screen. Just turn on Geko\'s TracBack® feature, and you can retrace your path back to the beginning. You can save locations in memory as waypoints (up to 500 of them), so you can always find your way back to any important place, such as your campsite or vehicle. Geko also lets you put several waypoints together to create and store routes to all of your favorite places. Geko\'s trip computer can tell you how far and how fast you\'ve traveled. And at the end of the day, you can connect your Geko to your PC and transfer your waypoints and tracks. Play Games: Geko\'s virtual GPS games make your outdoor excursion even more fun. Enjoy a good workout while you chase lizards in Geko Smak or find the matching symbols in Memory Race. You can also collect flags as you wind your way through Virtua Maze or navigate to points without crossing your trail in Nibbons. Advantages: rugged, waterproof, reliable, accurate Disadvantages: none
...My wife and i have a hobby called Geocaching and our GarminGeko201 is invaluable to us. Our hobby involves downloading co-ordinates to the PC, which we can then transfer to the Garmin via a serial cable. You can of course input them manually.
My advice is to read the manual carefully as it may not be the most obvious piece of kit to use. (isn't that what manuals are for? ) Once you get used to it it is a very simple unit to use.
It is rugged, waterproof and has a good battery life. I believe it is even possible to link to some mobile phones such as Smartphones but i have not tried?
It has a breadcrumb feature so that you can retrace your step, current speed, average speed, distance covered and many more useful features that you will find handy, but;
The most important thing is that it is accurate. We have to find objects...

Advantages: Small, Works Perfectly Disadvantages: Doesn't have the best spec on the market (if you want that)
...I've wanted a GPS for ages - not for finding my way about in the car - but for the geeky pursuit of geocaching. This Christmas my boyfriend treated me and bought me a GarminGeko201GPS and it's beautiful. It caters exactly to my needs and is a nice handy size.
But I'll start at the beginning so you know exactly what this model does…
Geocaching
For those who don't know about geocaching, you might want to pay a quick visit to www.geocaching.com Geocaching is the exciting, and rather geeky, hobby of using a GPS (or a map if you so wish) to go for nice pleasant walks and search for hidden treasure. This treasure is in the form of a box with a log inside to sign to prove you have found the box. Inside the box there are often small trinkets to swap for something of your own, sometimes special 'travel bugs' to take...

Advantages: Small and very strong Disadvantages: A bit bulky and expensive from UK suppliers
...way in a short time, the majority of handheld ones come with lovely overlaid maps at the least, and some are now colour, and can be used in the car. Comparing them to the Foretrex 201 is therefore very unfair as the wrist mounted GPS has a very basic list of capabilities, and relies more on its long battery life and features which are aimed out your outdoor rugged types, you know the sort all jutting square chins and Berghaus, the same square jawed guy will also be wearing the newer versions called the forerunner 205 or 305. The fortrex is also available as a basic version with batteries (called the fortrex 101) and also versions called Forerunner 101 and 201 which have some very nifty training software (PC only mind so I avoided that as I am a confirmed Mac guy) The operation and style is the same on all these models.
So down...

Garmin was one of the GPS devices I looked at when deciding which sat nav to go for. I actually went for the TomTom. As I compared several models I feel I am qualified to write a review on this Sat Nav.
