On the Gelert website, and also everywhere i have looked ( and where i got mine from) the price of this tent is £44.99. For a four man tent, whihc holds a decent manufacturer name on the front, this is quite a reasonable price. Going one step further, and looking at a Vango tent, which are considered to be the Creme de la Creme of the camping world, you are looking at starting prices of around £90, which for the occasional camper like my self, who is only really planning on using it for a couple of days per year, is rather expensive. Unless you are planning on climbing everest in the near future, and you need a tent to protect you from unpredictable weather, and 6 foot of snow, there is no need to spend much more than £50.
I have just used the tent for four nights in France, and didnt have any faults with the tent at all, and it did its job perfectly.
As with all tents i have bought before, i put it up in the back garden, as you always should, just to check that all of the parts are in the bag. They were all there so back it went into the bag and ready for the camping trip.
The instructions that are attatched to th tent bag are reasonably easy to understand, and i had no problems putting the tent up the first time. To put the tent up the first time took me about half an hour, and then the second time when i got to france i did it in about 15 minutes. The tent could be put up a bit faster if you have more than one person doing it. The tent is advertised as "quick pitching" so it is designed to be easy to assemble. Whilst putting up the tent, i found all of the poles and the tent sheets to be of high quality, and dont feel like they are going to snap, or tear the first time you get a gust of wind, which is always a good thing.
Whilst using the tent, it went through the best test, rain, and there were no leaks anywhere and i stayed completely dry, so no faults in the waterproofing of the tent. ( It wasnt light showers, it was heavy rain).
Inside the tent, there was plenty of room. It was only me in the tent on my own, as i prefer to have plenty of space in a tent if i am camping for more than one night. In the tent was a standard size doube air bed, which took up about two thords of the total space. So there was plenty of room for bags, boots and general clutter! The porch area is also good for storing things in, as this area is also dry in the morning thanks to the ground sheet which is pre attatched to the tent itself. In the porch area, there are two windows, which have curtains to pull across, so people cant see what you have inside, very clever!
Taking the tent down was simple also, pull off the outer sheet, remove the poles, take out the pegs, and fold it up. Job done! Unlike many tents that i have used before, this one actually has a carry bag that the tent fits in after you have used it, and it goes in easily, rather than struggling to get it packed smal enough!
All in all this is an excellent tent for the money that i have paid for it, and i would recommend this product to anyone who is looking a for a new tent, i couldnt have asked for it to be any better in any way. I would definately buy a product from this company again!
