The 800 has 18 features, each of which has been thought out to be of ACTUAL use rather than fantasy use. What I mean is, how many of us have found ourselves needing to get a ... ...sharp. I've had my gerber for over 5 years now and it's still got a very good edge. The back half of the blade is serrated, giving you extra cutting power. The blade can be opened quickly using just your thumb - However, you have to hold it in your right hand to do it!
SCISSORS
The scissors are on the opposite side to the blade, and again can be operated with one hand - the right hand! They are spring loaded, which gives you similar advantages ...

INFO
I bought my Gerber from Halfords at a reduced price of £35 instead of £70. I know thats not cheap but you get a lot for your money
Gerber tools come in a multitude of different varieties.
This one is a Gerber Pro Scout Deluxe mp600 multitool complete with a toolkit.
DESIGN
The tool is made of stainless steel with a titanium coloured finish. You could easily drop this tool on the floor 100 times and it wouldn't get scratched, dented or damaged. ... ...tool is easy enough and is done via two push in locking buttons on either side. This stops the tool from opening unexpectedly. These then lock when the pliers are fully out thus stopping it from folding back on your fingers. With the pliers fully out you can then get access to the range of tools stored in the handles. Folding out each tool is easily done and without wasting time. Each blade has and easy to access tab making it far easier than other ...

Advantages: may be indestructable Disadvantages: none
The Gerber multi tool is a essential bit of kit for people like myself (being in the forces). Ive found this to be one of the best things i have bought in my life. It is actually made fron gun metal so that means its near enough indestrutable and anti rust. It comes in two colours, silver and gun metal black (which is the one i own). It is a very good design as it is very compact, once retracted it fits into a pouch about three inches long and an ... ...many different tools it has on it 1, Pliers and Wire Cutters. these retract into the body of the actual gerber. They slide out and once out lock into place. To retract them you simpley push the studs in on either side and slide it back it.
2,The Knife. This about two and half inches long and is extremely sharp. It will cut through almost anything as i found out (barbed wire fencing)
3,The Saw, again this is about two inches long just like the knife, ...

This is the ultimate tool, tough enough to be carried on operations by most British Soldiers. It comes with a Saw edge, Pen knife, a File, Screwdrivers - Phillips and Flathead, a tough set of wire cutters and many more blades. It like most of it's contenders comes with a life time garantie although this is unlikely to ever be used. It has a nice pouch which fits easy on to most belts. Rustproof an Ideal tool even if you just want to leave it in your ...

I have owned my Gerber for a couple of years now and in my job
it gets used several times a week . All the tools are well designed and useful The stainless steel from which it is made is good quality. Even the scissors that I was a little dubious about are incredibly useful and cut very well.
All the tools lock in place when openedwhich is a massive advantage over the other quality multi tools such as Leatherman and Sog which don't.
It's not indestructible ... ...screwdriver , but that is only to be expected. The main
blade is good although I am not sure of the purpose of the cut out along the top which in my opinion only weakens the blade. It comes in a woven nylon pouch which you can attach to your belt and of course a full lifetime guarantee. I paid around £35 for mine on the internet. Which is a liitle expensive ,but i think worth it . ...

Advantages: Several tools in a compact package Disadvantages: Fiddly, poor quality knife and cutter - pliers pinch skin.
...I was given a black Gerber Clutch multi tool for Christmas about a year ago.
The tool contains a knife, nail file, bottle opener/flat screwdriver, 'cross-head' screwdriver, tweezers and a pointy type blade. The whole tool folds open to become a pair of pliers/cutters. There is a key-ring on one end.
The tool is quite light and compact, although I was always conscious of its presence in my pocket.
I carried the tool for most of last year, finding it useful on several occasions. Attaching keys to it hampered its use, so I took them off right at the start.
Now to the various tools:
Knife -
This is a strong blade of about 4 cm useable length. Unfortunately it does not stay sharp very long even with light use such as sharpening pencils and cutting paper. It does however hone back to a sharp edge quickly.
Nail File...

......then they're most certainly good enough for your average weekender! I have been the satisfied user of Victorinox Swiss Army knives for a number of years now, and needless to say, they have got me out of a few sticky situations out in the wilds. I cannot think of a more inventive tool priced as competitively as these wonderful little crimson-handled masterpieces. Sure, the likes of Leatherman and Gerber may be swanky and sexy looking, but you will be parting with the best part of £80 to get one of these that can compete with a middle of the ranges Victorinox!
The range offered by Victorinox will suit all from the vanity conscious hanbag survivalist, to the fortysomething outdoors enthusiast. Lifetime warranties also offer some indication as to the quality of the materials used in the construction process.
I have however, some...
