Advantages: Warm, dry, fit like a glove! Disadvantages: Pricey
...did I find them heavy to wear. When I slid my feet inside it was akin to donning a pair of your favorite slippers. The fit was great for me, although I was suspiscious of the closure system, I preffer velcro straps. I'd used a similar closure system before on a pair of Sidi Race shoes, and it had been rendered useless by mud clogging it up, so I was a little wary to see a similar system on this boot.. That said, the ability to adjust the fit around the heal, using velcro, worked well for me. The neoprene cuff at the top of the boot, felt warm and snug.
With the boots on, and wearing just a pair of thin summer socks, I well recall my first frosty outing wearing the Lake boots. It was well below freezing, well a couple of degrees below, and at no stage during the 3 hr ride did my feet even begin to feel cold. The boots did a great job...

Advantages: Long Lasting, Variety of colours, not too expensive Disadvantages: Colours can fade
...back legs so I have to use boots each time she is ridden. I think that these boots lasted really well. I had to replace the back boots after about 2 and a half years as the PVC protection on one of them had been worn away. The front boots are still in perfect condition except the colour has faded quite a bit.
I have tried other boots but I think that these ones are much easier to use and more durable. Once the boots have been worn a few times, they mould to the horses leg and fit much better. The boots are easy to clean but may take a while to dry as they are made of neoprene. They are also quite cheap. If you buy online or from a catalogue like CAM Equestrian or Robinsons country Leisure, they are about £15-£18 per pair which is a really good price. Also there is a huge selection of colours so most of the time you can get what you want...

Advantages: Selection of sizes, Cheap. Disadvantages: Fall down, Nylon straps can stretch.
...I bought these boots about three years ago after reading about them in one of the horse magazines. Westropp has been going for years so they are a reputable company.
My horse is a 16.2hh TB x so I went along to my saddlers and bought a pair in the Large size.
Fitting them was easy and the clip buckles are easy to use.
What first attracted me to them was that they were made of neoprene bound with PVC padding which I thought was good for the horse as some of the leather knee boots can be quite hard and stiff.
I hack out quite alot and these were a must have buy.
For the first time I ensured the boots were properly fastened and in the right place which wasnt a problem.
However half way into the ride I discovered that one of the knee boots had fallen down, luckily we had stopped and another rider had alerted me.
I put the boot back...

This book is a follow up to the very popular book 'Hug' but it has to be pointed out that it's not vital that you read Hug prior to Tall. It's just the same little chimp, Bobo in it.
