Hope, keep the faith
Review of Hope Pads Mono M4 by
Greasylake
Advantages: Longlasting, made by a great British company
Disadvantages: Can be a tad fiddly to fit.
...I've had Hope brakes on my mountain bikes for longer than I care to remember, and I've currently got two full suspention bikes set up with Hope M4 brakes, I love the brakes, and have never had a problem with the Hope pads, so I've always stuck with them.
I live and ride in South Wales, where it's wet, rocky and more gritty than muddy. I always stick to the sintered pads, and make sure I bed them in properly before I take them out on their first ride. In summer, when it's a little dryer, I've even got a loop I use to specifically bed my pads in (how sad am I?). But it's worth it, as when bedded in properly, the pads last for many, many months before they need changing. Which is good, as although changing the pads isn't difficult, I more often than not, find it a bit of a faff.
The pads aren't cheap, coming in around the £12 mark...

TI S2 Not That Bad
Review of Head TI S2 by
markcrook
Advantages: Light, cheap for titanium
Disadvantages: Small racket head
...I purchased a TiS2 about a year and a half ago as I needed a light racket after injuring a hand in a footballing accident and the TiS2 was one of the lightest rackets around together with the TiS6. Most people in the club were going for the TiS6 which has a larger head and thicker frame.
I find the racket easy to use and can handle all types of shots both with power from the base line and delicate touches around the net. I have only just replaced the strings after 1 and a half years.
As newer rackets are now coming on the market the TiS2 is now an excellent choice as they can be picked up for near the £100 which is pretty good for a titanium racket....

Ti.s6 rackets break
Review of Head TI S6 by
mouse1
Advantages: a good racket
Disadvantages: breaks without any reason to speak of
...i am a county tennis player and have used head rackets all my life. i have never had a problem with them until recently - myself and my sister who also plays at county level used the TiS6 racket and after a few months the frames of both our rackets began to rattle. we sent the product back to head who sent us fresh rackets. true to form, 3 months later the same problem occurred which inclined me to believe that there may be a design flaw with these rackets. do not get me wrong, they are superb rackets while they last, but unfortunately they have a tendancy not to last very long...
