**Introduction**
I need to start off by categorically stating that I am not a fan whatsoever of gray nicolls bats. I believe they are very average and are made to look so good because matt hayden and andy symonds use these bats, hence the publicity, as these two players are some of the worlds greatest! However, I heard that the bat had a good middle, so I purchased one at a reduced cost and starting using the bat for a few nets!
**Preparation**
I prepared the bat very well, knocking in throughly and oiling well. This process took me a long time, but I hoped that by the end, I would have a good bat! Whilst knocking in, a process which I did for about eight hours altogether, I was pleasantly surprised with the result. The bat seemed to have a very good middle and a decent toe, which was essential for the type of pitches that I would be playing on in the forthcoming season
**Throwdowns**
The more throwdowns I had with this bat, the better it felt to be honest. From thinking that Gray Nicolls was my least favourite make, it quickly became my favourite - I was thrilled with the rewards that I was reaping. The bat was well balanced, and despite the fact that it weighed 2'7", the bat picked up somewhere near 2'5". I was delighted. I could tell that after the disappointment of my Newbury, this was going to be a great piece of willow and was going to get me a lot of runs!
**Disaster**
I was having a net with my brother and a few friends, about a month after I had purchased it. A fast ball was dug in around my feet and I had to dig it out. Consequently the bat shattered as the impact was too strong and there was no give for the bat to go. It snapped in half and I was absolutely devastated
**My advice**
This is a great bat would it does break easily so it is a big risk to take!
Advantages: good stroke play, midium weighted Disadvantages: as for others also....initial punching required
...over the years, the name gray nicholls is synonymous with quality and they certainly live up to this title with this bat, made to celebrate the millennium. The class of the company is noticed when one considers the number of international cricketers around the globe that endorse their products.
In this bat they, once again, manage to get a good pick up and balance, something I find quite hard to find, especially on slazenger and newbury bats. One ... ...and somewhat bouncier. In addition, gray nicholls offer an oval handle, which makes it a lot easier to play straight down the line of the ball, as this is the natural motion, so in theory this should minimise the number of times you play around the straight one.
Unfortunately the bat comes at a fairly high price, but has served me well over the past season. ...

Advantages: Very light, good pick up and general good quality Disadvantages: some players think it is to light.
This bat is an absoloutely brilliant, lightweight well manafactured quality piece of willow. The pick up is good but it does depend of what grade bat you have. The bat is available in different grade stars I have the 5 star which is one of the top bats in the Millenium range, it has a nice sweetspot also and I seem to be able to strike the ball to the boundary fence with that big ping of the bat ohh what a lovely sound that is when the ball hits ... ...best piece of bat quality to last because it is simply the best part it of course is the amazing lightness of the bat considering that it has all the power that you could ask for in a bat you would of thought it may be a little on the heavy side but no it's just the right weight because there is some weight you can feel so that you can guide the bat easier for those delicate strokes. Overall this bat is just brilliant a real strokemakers bat and ...

Advantages: Lightweight, large middle, Disadvantages: the cost
I have used this bat in the past and thought very highly of it. This perfectly constructed bat is lightweight and moulded excellently. Its large middle and thick edges make it a very forgiving bat. This bat is perfect for not only beginners but right the way up to professional standard. It is a comfortable bat to ply with and a comfortable handle and grip. The price depends on the weight of the bat and the size. This bat is durable and gives of very ...
