...The scoop bat has actually been one of the first bats produced by the gray nicholls company, who incidentally also specialise in the production of hockey sticks. The scoop was one of the first bats that I used in my early days as a cricketer and I was taken aback by its easy pickup and weight distribution. The bat is ideal for youngsters about to embark on the game, and providing the weight of the bat is not too heavy, will act to aid their pick up and allow them to play straight, something that even the test cricketers sometimes do not do.
The scoop, in recent times has been taken over by the ultimate and dynadrive but i would recommend it to any youngster as a starting point....

Advantages: Lightweight, large middle, Disadvantages: the cost
...I have used this bat in the past and thought very highly of it. This perfectly constructed bat is lightweight and moulded excellently. Its large middle and thick edges make it a very forgiving bat. This bat is perfect for not only beginners but right the way up to professional standard. It is a comfortable bat to ply with and a comfortable handle and grip. The price depends on the weight of the bat and the size. This bat is durable and gives of very little vibration (if any) when used.
ESTIMATE
5*--£70 (junior)
5*-- £130 (adult)
I conclude that this bat is perfectly structured and very forgiving. I know this from experience in using one and would recommend for all sorts of players.

Powered Spot Review ofGrayNicolls Power Spot LTby
dan7hughes
Advantages: Good bat Disadvantages: Durability (lack of)
...I bought this product because of a combination of factors. The willow looked good, the pick up was nice, the weight was right and the price was competitive. The fact that the bat was endorsed by the likes of Michael Atherton could only increase its attractiveness.
The bat played very well. It immediately lived upto its name of power spot and soon as I started playing straight drives in the nets. The bat served me very well for a couple of seasons. Several cracks then started to appear but the bat still played fine. Then the bat took one on the toe and a crack appeared write up the middle reducing its power dramatically. I was disappointed that a bat this good should have only lasted me a couple of seasons, especially seen as it was only used at weekends....
