I have been playing hockey for a considerable number of years now and i gaced a tough decision when I decided i needed a new stick this season. The last stick i bought was a very good stick and was very expensive as it cost me over £200, however its durability was very poor.
After doing some research on the internet i found the Grays O tech stick, with new technology that channeled the energy of the hit down to the ball because of the holes in the isde of the stick. They also decrease air resistance so that the swing can increase its speed. In my opinion you cannot argue with the technology behind this stick and i was thoroughly convinced. My local sports shop had one of these sticks in stock and i got to have a feel of the stick with a ball. I found the stick to have a great feel to it and it is very responsive. The only problem was that i could not test out its hitting power in the shop! I decided ,although it had rather a hefty price tag, to go for it and buy the stick. The first time i used the stick was in a match which i would not normally do as i find hockey sticks usually require at least a couple of training sessions to 'knock in' and get used to however i was very eager to see if the stick lived up to all the hype! I soon realised just how good the stick was. I immediately noticed my dribbling control had improved and the strength and consistency of my hitting has improved as the grays tech guys said! I also find lifting the ball very easy with this stick and mine has a 25mm bow to make this easy. I have also had friends at training complementing me on my stick and also saying how great the power it generates is after taking just one or two hits with it. I would say the only disappointments for me is the fact that the paint has chipped of the stick quickly however this is somewhat expected but and hockey player will know just how sad it is to see the first few chips out of a shiny new stick! The other issue would be the price as it's somewhere around the £200 mark. I do hope that my review is helpfull though, to make the purchase of something so expensive less risky. After playing with the sitck in my opinion the money is no longer a problem! As i play centre forward i get maximum use of the technology behind the stick however a defender may not quite get the same use of the stick so I would take this into consideration before making the purchase as you may not get to see the stick at its best and a heavier stick may benefit you more. Some players say a very good hockey player can play well with any stick but i say why not have all the help you can get!!!
