La Fitness - LAzy Management.
Advantages: Good instructors Disadvantages: Poor management/maintainance.
...have been a member of LA Fitness Belfast for two years and what was once one of the best places to be a member has now become a total disgrace.
Over the last six months the facilities have become worse and worse.
Examples :
A Spa that doesn't work very often - its currently cover over with a cover as its so disguting looking.
A Steam Room that isn't working properly,
A Sauna where it has taken 2 months two put a light bulb in and its not the ... ...taken away and never replaced - the one in the Ladies room is fine.
The shower system has not work correctly for over three months and its still being fixed.
Either the manager needs replaced or the maintenance person/people need replaced.
Only good thing about the place now (besides being close to my workplace !) is that the instructors are good.
Take my advice don't join unless you get a good reduction or proof that they have fixed everything. ...

Anyone NOT for tennis ?
Advantages: Easily accessible, good facilities and nice staff Disadvantages: Cost - unless you use it well
Gym memberships appeal to two groups of people - those who want to impress others with their affluence and those who are desperate to improve fitness.
I am in the latter, and reckon it is good value.
Why ?
Lloyd's in Belfast is in a great location, close to the Dundonald Ice Bowl, and on a nice green field site.
It has pleasant outlooks and plenty of parking room - which is a secure, card-operated facility.
Inside, the spacious entrance area ... ...courts, pools and gym.
Racquets courts - if you are for tennis after all, the courts are vast indoor areas as well as some outdoor courts, plus squash, badminton and table-tennis facilities.
Swimming facilities include a large indoor pool, a smaller, heated outdoor pool, spa, sauna and steam room, all accessible from the changing rooms which are used for the rest of the facilities.
( I have been in other clubs where that is not the case, and it ...

Quick Fit !
Advantages: Welcoming, homely, well-run Disadvantages: Expensive if you do not use it a lot
...heart crisis seemed likely.
Esporta Belfast opened not too far away from home, and a caller at the house offered a month's trial for £20.
I was there in a jiffy !
2 ~~~~~~~~~~The Hurdles~~~~~~~~~
Time was still a hurdle. No extra hours had been added to my days!
But an early start proved to be the answer - at 7.15 am there are few folk in the gym and fewer on my phone !
Being a creature of habit was another hurdle, and I knew that this had ... ...least half the people in Esporta Belfast, are there with the same needs as myself.!
3 ~~~~~~~~~~The Surroundings~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Esporta Belfast is very easy to reach - traffic permitting, being very close to the City Airport, the Holywood Exchange and Tesco !
It is set in its own grounds with green fields and a little wood surrounding three sides.
There is plenty of parking and I have never seen it more than three quarters full.
The foyer ...

a disgrace
Advantages: its cheep Disadvantages: staff are unhelpful, violent and abusive. the management don't care
in my opinion you should never go anyware near this gym. the facilities suck and the staff are very abusive and unhelpful. i seen a disabled person being attacked and no one helped him. member of staff who hit the disabled man still works there. in my opinion, the staff are violent and the managemet just turn a blind eye to this.
i found the gym very dirty and unhygenic, there was mould growng on the tiles in the shower area and outside the sauna.

OUGHT TO HAVE A WEALTH WARNING
Advantages: Good tennis Disadvantages: Personally witnessing a long-standing member being refused entry.
OUGHT TO HAVE A WEALTH WARNING: The club appears to tie the members into very long contracts (currently, I believe 12 months notice) and this year when my membership was due for renewal the club did not adhere to their own contract with regards to price increases, 14a & 14b of the contract in particular. The office staff, in charge of Membership Relations, I found to be rather dishonest! I personally experienced some very unethical tricks when negotiating ... ...who she is, will even insist that she does not receive emails as official notice of resignation or retraction, depending on what benefits her, of course. I have also personally witnessed a long-standing member being refused entry to the club only 2 days after his payment ran out. How ruthless!
Be careful! ...
