LA fitness Birmingham
Review of LA Fitness, Birmingham by
vinvinli
Advantages: Cheaper than others.
Disadvantages: 2 floors below ground, poor condition and cleanliness
...try different gym around birmingham. LA fitness Birmingham is the worst gym I have even been.
The outside of the gym give you an impression that it is very very small. However, the gym is actually 2 floors below ground and has a nice reception area.
I have transferred my gym member from Milton keynes to Birmingham due to work. Having just transferred on a Friday, the gym was closed for 3 days the following week due to flooding. I used the gym on ... ...and cleanliness of the gym. The changing room was very small with little bench space for 3 people to change at the same time. The whole changing room had a strong smell of urine drifting from the toilet area and there were litter all over the floor. Considering the gym is two floors below ground, the air conditioning was absolutely appalling. The gym area feels like an oven let alone whilst doing cardio work. Some dumbbells had their gripping handles ...

Sports Clubs
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Birmingham by
andy.taylor
Advantages: Large range of features, continually improving
Disadvantages: none i can think of.
...Anyway, I joined the David Lloyd club in Birmingham a couple of years ago. I really like it there!
The facilities include:
-Squash
-Tennis
-Badminton
-swimming, both indoor and outdoor
-steam room
-sauna
-spa pool
-little kids pool
-large gym
The Gym includes a lot of machines, both weights and cardiovascular, I have yet to see them all in use at the same time, so you don't have to wait!
The Gym has:
-tredmills
-steper things
-bikes
... ...and use it in other david lloyd clubs, we did try this once, but we were told we would have to pay... I think they have changed how it works now, but still wasn't very impressed with that.
Apart from all the bad points, i seriously reccomend joining! Really good fun.
The club also puts on functions for bonfire night, etc.... ...

Holmes from home?
Review of Holmes Place, Birmingham by
pinseyt
Advantages: Huge number of machines, lovely pool, nice changing rooms
Disadvantages: Pricier than other gyms, no automatic weights machines, close to fast food outlets!
...it prefers to be known), Holmes Place Star City gets reasonably close.
I joined Holmes Place five months ago after having been a member of a Birmingham city centre gym for two and a half years. (Before then, I was a certified couch potato) I chose Holmes Place Star City as it's close to my new job and I was impressed by the facilities it offers during my initial visit there. So here's the lowdown...
**Location**
Holmes Place is bang in the middle ... ...also buy an assortment of Holmes Place merchandise including gym kit you may have left at home, as well as tokens for the sunbeds which are located in the changing rooms.
**The gym bit**
The gym is very much open plan and is set out on two storeys. The mixed gym and weights areas are spread out amongst the two floors. Upstairs, there is a ladies-only room. There are banks and banks of machines (too many to count) - you'll find all the usual equipment. ...

Curves in Redhill
Review of curves international, womens sport centre by
sonjaangel
Advantages: very friendly and ethusiastic staff, fun, cheap
Disadvantages: parking, opening hours
...One day I came across Curves website when searching on Google. Their venue is based in heart of Shopping mole in Redhill.
I decided to phone them and find out some information about their concept and price... They were very helpful and well trained to tell you everything you need to know about Curves. I still couldnt believe that 30mins workout 3x weekly could make you tone up and lose weight in combination with healthy lifestyle and right food ... ...by parking in front of Curves by realising that every time I visit I will be charged because I parked at the shopping centre car park but there isnt any other parking avaliable in Redhill centre. It maybe doesnt sound like much £0.60/h but every time you want to pay for parking you have to go inside the shopping centre which is so tempting when you see all those shops and the mashine for paying could really be located nearer too.
I got to the gym ...
