Holmes Place Printworks Manchester

Advantages: Large gym, lots of good classes -RPM,BODYPUMP, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Takeover by Virgin, cutbacks have started e.g. towels, sweat-towels, classes

This was the best gym in Manchester and has great facilities and a good-sized pool. However, the takeover by Virgin Active looks set to take it downmarket. Stingy cutbacks such as removing sweat towels and only handing one bath-towel out are the start. There are fears that the Womens' Gym area is to go and that the classes will be reduced and use in-house formats instead of the excellent BodySystems training. Poor gym, poor value for money

Advantages: Steam room and sauna
Disadvantages: Untidy, broken equipment, bad air con, low powered sunbeds, no paper towels.

...to my final point, this fitness first give different people different membership prices for example they only give new offers to new members and dont give anything to existing members, all they offered me was £2 off if i resigned on a 12 month contract. Also they are sly with what each member pays for example i know people that are paying £28, £25, £22 and one person even £18 a month when all of they all have the same membership type. a disgrace

Advantages: its cheep
Disadvantages: staff are unhelpful, violent and abusive. the management don't care

in my opinion you should never go anyware near this gym. the facilities suck and the staff are very abusive and unhelpful. i seen a disabled person being attacked and no one helped him. member of staff who hit the disabled man still works there. in my opinion, the staff are violent and the managemet just turn a blind eye to this. i found the gym very dirty and unhygenic, there was mould growng on the tiles in the shower area and outside the sauna. ...
