Virgin - Active enough for me
Review of Virgin Active Fitness Club, Leeds by
emsky2001
Advantages: Clean, friendly, good for all fitness levels
Disadvantages: Expensive
I joined Virgin Gym with my partner about nine months ago, lured by a friendly, low-pressure salesperson, and the chance of saving money on a joining offer. It cost us £70 between us to join, and the rest of the month was free. Luckily for us, we joined at the beginning of a month.
The administration side seemed efficient, except for a slight hitch with the direct debit, but that may have been our bank. It costs us £49 per month for peak membership, ... ...well. There is another Virgin Gym in Leeds, in Great George Street, which is cheaper and offers corporate discounts but doesn't have a pool.
The gym itself is big, clean and airy. Downstairs, there is a reception area, free computer and playstation area, cafe (offering healthy and not so healthy food at very reasonable prices), comfy seating area and library with more free-to-use computers. There is also a Virgin Cosmetics/Virgin Vie shop and a ...

LA S*itness
Review of LA Fitness, Leeds by
singingbush
Advantages: Clean, various equipment.
Disadvantages: gets overcrowded, small, expensive, tied into a 12 month contract, shuts early on weekend
...My flatmate and I joined LA Fitness in Leeds in about February of this year. Being a person who is very active I have been to lots of gyms before but decided to have a look round LA Fitness as it is in the centre of town and seemed to be fairly quite. The fact that the person who showed us around the gym was your stereotypical sales person who only seemed interested in getting us to join should have been enough for me to leave immediately, but for ... ...As with everything else at LA Fitness the size of the changing rooms isn’t big enough for the amount of customers in peak hours. Another thing that pissed me off on various occasions is that even in a place that you have to pay £39.99 per month to use – the toilets where still nasty, all too often being blocked up with toilet paper and feces.
The gym itself was always clean, and has a nice atmosphere. It has multiple running machines, exercise bikes, ...

One of the best gyms I have ever been to
Review of Esporta Club, Leeds by
Blondechick
Advantages: Lots of facilities to use, Open most of the time.
Disadvantages: Memebership can be quite expensive.
...There are quite a few Esporta Health and fitness clubs all over the country and now even some in Europe, but this opinion concentrates on the Leeds Esporta for one simple reason, it’s the club I use.
Getting there
The Esporta in Leeds is situated out of the town centre although they are building a new one in the town centre due to open sometime later on in the year. The one out of town is situated in the small village of Cookridge and the ... ...Added extras
At Esporta there are lots of little extra things that are available to use. For example there is a kids club open where the children can go and play whilst you exercise. There is a hairdresser upstairs that offer a good range of services at quite a good price. A new thing that has been introduced recently is a scheme called Motivate. This is basically where you hire a personal trainer and they go through your exercise plan with you ...

Curves in Redhill
Review of curves international, womens sport centre by
sonjaangel
Advantages: very friendly and ethusiastic staff, fun, cheap
Disadvantages: parking, opening hours
...One day I came across Curves website when searching on Google. Their venue is based in heart of Shopping mole in Redhill.
I decided to phone them and find out some information about their concept and price... They were very helpful and well trained to tell you everything you need to know about Curves. I still couldnt believe that 30mins workout 3x weekly could make you tone up and lose weight in combination with healthy lifestyle and right food ... ...by parking in front of Curves by realising that every time I visit I will be charged because I parked at the shopping centre car park but there isnt any other parking avaliable in Redhill centre. It maybe doesnt sound like much £0.60/h but every time you want to pay for parking you have to go inside the shopping centre which is so tempting when you see all those shops and the mashine for paying could really be located nearer too.
I got to the gym ...
