Pricey and not worth it
Advantages: Latest equipment, long opening hours, when quiet easy to get on everything Disadvantages: Too hot, too many kids, not really a proper gym, changing rooms not overally clean
...have been a member of David Lloyd for a number of years and have seen the price creep up without things actually improving. The gym equipment to be fair suited me. It was new and included treadclimbers which I was a regular user of when they were not 'awaiting repair' as they often were. The main bugbear is that once you have got through the turnstiles you have to wade through the glorified crèche. Lots of kids just running into you and blocking ... ...sip Costa coffee in blissful ignorance. With bottles of water costing £1.50 it would be better to drink the pool water. Then again, the outside pool is in worse condition than a lot of council pools. The air conditioning barely works in winter so you can imagine how uncomfortable it gets in summer. Interesting after they boast about how much they spent on the refurbishments! So rather than endure another year of it, I gave my 3 months notice in at ...

FITNESS FIRST - APPARENTLY
Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: WASTE OF £39
I found out about fitness first when I was searching the Internet for fitness clubs in my area. The club sounded really good, as well as the gym they ran fitness classes including Pilates and Yoga, had a Spa area and a members only video club. They were offering a free day to one of their fitness clubs, so I thought 'why not' and registered my details. A few days later I was called by the Edinburgh Club and asked if I would like to make an appointment ... ...bully me into joining (Which there was absolutely no chance of).
Fitness First's logo is that they bring fitness at an affordable price, I don't think so, for £39 a month you don't get much for your money, it's worth paying a few pound extra to join a decent gym. ...

Great way to keep fit!!
Advantages: Wide range of facilities, centres across the coutry, reasonable fees, professional tuition Disadvantages: Initial expense, motivation.
...health centres in the country, Living Well, do offer an extensive range of exercise & fitness courses along with a relatively modest membership fee that doesn't involve being tied to an annual contract like some other clubs tend to sting you with.
Another great incentive is that most of the LivingWell (LW) centres offer special "Free Day" where you can sample most if not all of the centre's training courses and then decide for yourself if you want ... ...LivingWell Club at Queensway, Birmingham with a floor area of over 37000 sq feet and boasts a swimming pool, squash court, creche, solarium, aqua aerobics, sauna and a spacious gymnasium with all the usual equipment to help you beat off all that fat.
You have to prebook your Free Day, but on arrival you have to fill out a questionaire and go through various tests to make sure you're not taking on too much too soon; the professional instructors there ...

Join today- tomorrow never comes!
Advantages: Extensive range of facilities and pursuits on offer, membership club so non-members excluded, value for money Disadvantages: Present leisure pool is not suitable for swimming training
...club, look no further than Parklands Country Club, situated in Newton Mearns on the south side of Glasgow.
The club offers a large and well equipped gym with weight machines, free weights, treadmills, rowing machines, cross-trainers, cycle machines and spinning bikes (spinning classes are held). The club has, in the past four years or so, benefitted from extensive redevelopment and expansion. Even this year, redevelopment has been ongoing with a refurbishment of the bar and restaurant area.
The membership fees are reasonable for the ambience of the ...
