Get fit!! Advantages: activities, cleanliness, very large, great customer service Disadvantages: price slightly high i attended virgin active a few months back now and after being shown around i become a member. The facilities available in the gym are absolutely fantastic, these include swimming pool, weights, CV equipment, Yoga equipment, Sauna, Steam room, Tanning beds, and a variet of classes such as boxing, cycling, circuits and light weights yoga, so everything for everyone really!! The layout is very good i think, and the cleanliness and space of the changing ... ...have kids there is a club they can be taken care off and they can also partipate in kids events such as birthday parties, classes, football, swimming and many more. Virgin Gym Omni Centre Edinburgh Advantages: size and in town centre Disadvantages: expensive, some incompetent staff Large gym with up to date machines. Have enjoyed going although there is alot of waiting around at peak times. Also, I have never ever been able to book a place on a class at peak times which is very very frustrating. Only really good thing is the 25m pool that is UV filtered. There are nicer gyms in Edinburgh for the same money. My main complaint is with the incompetency of the admin staff. LA fitness Birmingham Advantages: Cheaper than others. Disadvantages: 2 floors below ground, poor condition and cleanliness ...try different gym around birmingham. LA fitness Birmingham is the worst gym I have even been. The outside of the gym give you an impression that it is very very small. However, the gym is actually 2 floors below ground and has a nice reception area. I have transferred my gym member from Milton keynes to Birmingham due to work. Having just transferred on a Friday, the gym was closed for 3 days the following week due to flooding. I used the gym on ... ...and cleanliness of the gym. The changing room was very small with little bench space for 3 people to change at the same time. The whole changing room had a strong smell of urine drifting from the toilet area and there were litter all over the floor. Considering the gym is two floors below ground, the air conditioning was absolutely appalling. The gym area feels like an oven let alone whilst doing cardio work. Pricey and not worth it Advantages: Latest equipment, long opening hours, when quiet easy to get on everything Disadvantages: Too hot, too many kids, not really a proper gym, changing rooms not overally clean ...have been a member of David Lloyd for a number of years and have seen the price creep up without things actually improving. The gym equipment to be fair suited me. It was new and included treadclimbers which I was a regular user of when they were not 'awaiting repair' as they often were. The main bugbear is that once you have got through the turnstiles you have to wade through the glorified crèche. Lots of kids just running into you and blocking ... ...sip Costa coffee in blissful ignorance. With bottles of water costing £1.50 it would be better to drink the pool water. Then again, the outside pool is in worse condition than a lot of council pools. The air conditioning barely works in winter so you can imagine how uncomfortable it gets in summer. Interesting after they boast about how much they spent on the refurbishments! Sports Club in Kinston upon Thames Advantages: good facilities and not too busy Disadvantages: quite expensive compared to other sports clubs ...and are members of the Esporta gym on the Richmond Road. When they told me that I could get a days free membership trial if I entered my details on their website I jumped at the chance. The gym is in a good location, approximately three minutes walk from kingston train station. I made good use of my days trial, had a swim in the pool, used the steam room and sauna and afterwards even did a quick gym workout. The swimming pool was very nice and I ... ...weekend. They had designated swimming lanes in place for those wanting to do a good workout, aswell as plenty of extra pool space for those just wanting to relax. I was told several times by my friends that there was loads of equipment in the gym and there is, although a number of the machines (weights and cardio) are repeated and so the total number of different machines is significantly lower than on first inspection.
