Advantages: Size, value, copier. Disadvantages: can be a bit noisy, paper feed tray.
After returning to university in January I bought myself my laptop but at the time declined the offer of a printer. The theory behind this was that as a ‘slightly’ mature student, I planned to be very conscientious and have all of my course work done and dusted well before they were due in so I would have time to go into the Uni library and print my work off on the printers there. Unfortunately, this plan fell by the wayside in about week three of ... ...an essay was due in manically driving over to my friends house to print my masterpiece!
So, off to PC World I trotted.
I tried my best to go and buy a basic printer, low cost, relatively cheap etc however one of my major failings in life is that I am hopelessly addicted to anything remotely gadgety and when faced with the rather extensive choice I just knew I would not stick to my original plan.
So I bought this baby. It is as stated, an All-in-One ...

Advantages: Compact. Quiet. Cheap. Fast. Reliable. High Quality Prints. Disadvantages: No faxline. No black and white only print option.
I’m sure those of you familiar with my writing will know I’m not a serious person nor technical minded. Computing is no exclusion. In my opinion a computer is a necessity and certainly not something I get excited about! I have a very basic home computing set up and earlier this year I had a couple of printer disasters, my trusty Canon Bubblejet packed up (Folks it was 8 years old!) and Andy’s Epson decided to no longer accept paper, this all happened ... ...So what do you do? I don’t rate PC World but when in a hurry without time to shop around or do your homework it’s your best bet, guaranteed!
Knowing the nature of my business I know I do a lot of printing and a healthy amount of photocopying so when I spotted these ‘all-in-one’ machines in PC World I stopped for a browse.
Prior to visiting PC World I set myself a printer budget of around £75. Since setting up my home computer 8 years ago I knew ...

Advantages: Tiny, folds up neat, one touch scans (PC not needed) Disadvantages: Banding on enlarged scan prints, cartridges costly, printing is not v.fast
I have owned this lovely printer for around 6 months now I think, I've had my differences with it, but my old printer & scanner took up a LOT of space. It's so far eaten around 500 pages of thick Kodak paper & both cartridges are about 1/4 full - though I have done 10 or 20 enlarged colour photocopies with it.
The one touch copy feature is a great feature, typically takes 20 - 30 seconds for a B&W A4, and anywhere up to 2 minutes for a colour enlargement ... ...buy a similar all in one printer, but one that can print faster as it is quite sluggish.
Pros
----
* One touch Colour/B&W copier (PC can be off too)
* Has 100% & full page copier options
* Half decent scanner
* Probably the smallest all in one around
* Uses USB
* Cheap to purchase - £99
* Looks damn nice
* Automatic calibration - prints a calibration page which you then scan & it figures out what to adjust.
* HP software is useful, though ...

Advantages: v.v..useful Disadvantages: not amazing quality
for seventy quid, i got my money's worth. this proved to be a very useful machine- you can photocopy, print and scan images on it. ok, so the quality isn't great, but neither is the way that England are playing in tonights match, so i ain't going to complain. the quality isnt that good, i mean, the specs are 4800 colour resolution- which isnt great, but for everyday use at home it surfices. mmm popcorn tastes good. this machine is supposed to print ... ...does it heck. more like:
0-10 seconds- switch on
10-70 seconds- 1 page
oh well...
a great advantage of this machine is that you do not need to switch the computer on to use the scanner. for some reason this still fascinates me- i'll get over it one day. also, it is a flat bed scanner, so you do not need to feed your page through it, meaning you can photocopy from books. noise-wise, don't use it whilst trying to put a baby to sleep. even yuor ...

Pure Genius! Review ofHewlett-Packard 1210by

Advantages: Small, space-saving, cheap, good quality printouts, scans and copies Disadvantages: None
For the mere £100 this little gem costs, this is all-in-one printing, scanning and copying at its best!
I stumbled across this bad boy while searching the web for all-in-ones I had seen advertised in catalogues and newspapers, so i was a bit suspicious of it when i saw it was only £100 and I had heard or read nothing about it. Yet I still went for it anyway.
If you're looking for a cheap, good quality all-in one colour printer, scanner and copier ... ...The installation was simple enough, aided by a huge novelty-sized installation guide (all on one piece of paper so u dont have to flick through a massive booklet), and even with little diagrams to help.
Then when up and running, we have the easy to use HP Director from which all printing, scanning and copying can easily be initiated through.
Incredibly fast when printing on the "fast draft" setting and also decent quality, but if its perfect quality ...

Advantages: Front Panel for Quick and Easy use. Disadvantages: Loves to eat paper.
...Computer. It was one of those package deals where you get the tower, monitor, keyboard mouse, a whole load of software and an HP printer and scanner. For a few months it worked fine then our nightmare began. We spent the next three years constantly on the phone to PC World trying to get the problem sorted. Anyway, the end result was finally them accepting that we had a faulty machine and offering us £900 in vouchers.
So off we went to buy our new computer. In reality we only needed to replace the tower but we decided to also replace the printer and monitor. Having looked at several makes and designs we settled on the HP PSC 1210 as we had not had any problems with our old printer and scanner. The only downside had been the cost of the cartridges. I can't remember the exact price but I believe it was around £40.

Advantages: Good value domestic printer, scanner and copier. Disadvantages: My family tends to jam it more often than previous printers.
...used cheap ink cartridges as well as HP ones, and the compatible cheaper ones have been easy to find in the shops.
For printing there are three quality options. After replacing the ink cartridge, whichever brand I use, I have found it best to use the quickest "draft" print option, which uses less ink. This is because if "normal" or "best" options are selected the ink is likely to smudge. I like my family to continue to use the draft option for as long as the results are adequate to everyday needs, as I like the way the ink lasts longer in this option. (This printer does not quickly drink ink in any option, like others I have had in the past. The most thirsty one was a Lexmark.)
My daughter does the most printing in my family, because of her college course work. I am happy will all the print results I have seen, which include text...
