Advantages: Straight console port. Interesting story. Disadvantages: Bland graphics. Bland single-player campaign.
Gameplay
Straight away the game smells like a console port. There has been little to no effort made to hide the fact at all. And seeing as though Halo was, at first, a PC only title it’s hard to remove the knife in the back at this point.
I’m not going to lie to you, a lot about this game is wrong. There are so many niggles you just want to dive in head first. So I will.
Jumping: Wrong. You jump up into the air and then you seem to float down in twice the amount of time it took you to get up.
Pistol: Wrong. How come you can zoom in with the handgun but not the assault rifle? There’s no scope on the sidearm so it must be done using the helmet, surely.
Assault rifle: Wrong. Aside from the lack of zoom from the magical helmet, the gun is woefully inaccurate. Things are supposed to improve as time goes on ...
Advantages: Good online play and lan play Disadvantages: a little short
Halo: one of the best rated first person shooter games of the pre next gen gaming consoles and still remains largely popular.
First thing you are in controll of the master chief a super soldier that has been trained from a child and has been augmented to improve speed power intelligence to basically make him super human. He is fitted in the MJOLNIR mark 2 suit which adds armor and gives him extra speed and power, The suit itself is so powerful that only the "spartans" can use them because of their augmentation they can handle the pressures that the suit puts on the body. The back story to the game comes from the halo novels.
When you first start you go through the basic controlls of moving the cross hair and then the story begins.
You are fighting against the Covenant a race of aliens looking to take over all life in the known ...
Advantages: Great single player, good online play when it works Disadvantages: Online play can be extremely slow at times, high spec pc required
had any problems with the sound in Halo and I haven't heard of anybody having any problems with the sound, they're all high-quality and the music is clear too, although in multi-player mode there appears to be something lacking at times, as you're walking across empty grass with nobody around the only thing you can hear are your footsteps across the grass, some people might like this as it adds to the atmosphere, others may find they get bored with not having any background music.
Conclusion:
With the game now selling for around £15 and the new patches being released which apparently fix the previous problems then it's well worth picking up a copy if it's your type of game. I only play it multiplayer because I've already completed the game but if you've never played Halo before and you don't know about the storyline then I really ...
