Manufacturer's product description
Halo SAS MX24 Rear Wheel 24 Inch - 14mm Axle - Single Speed Features: Halo MX Pro BMX cassette hubs on 36mm SAS rims. Pro level Jump/park wheels for Identiti P-45 or any Cruiser BMX bike. Massively strong, SAS box section rim, with double eyelets and DJS joint. Sealed bearing Halo MX Pro single speed cassette BMX hubs and Black ED finished spokes. Black Anodised finish 36mm SAS rims - 36 hole Front and 48H hole rear for optimised weight/strengh. Important Notes: NO DISK mount is possible on these hubs - therefore these wheels are suiteable only for rim brakes. These hubs are BMX standard 14mm - and are genrally not compatible with MTB standard frames or forks. The Front Hub: The Front hub is spaced at 100mm (same as regular forks) - but using a 14mm BMX axle (suitable for pegs). This makes for a very clean looking BMX/Dirt front end. It is ONLY compatible with 14mm BMX style dropouts (option with Identiti Rebate forks) The Rear Hub: The Rear hub is a 110mm spaced BMX Single Speed cassette hub with 14mm axle (suitable for pegs) and 11T cog fitted standard. The 11T Cassette cog can be changed to 10 or 12T (available separately). Rear hub spacing is 110mm (BMX standard) and can be run on any BMX standard 24\ bike. Note: Not compatible with most MTB frames - which are 135mm (or more) spacing. Specifications: Halo 36mm SAS rims with double eyelets. Black ED 14g spokes and black nipples. Weight/strength optimised 36H front, 48H rear spoking. Halo MX Pro BMX FS 14mm sealed bearing front hub. Halo MX Pro BMX FS 14mm sealed bearing cassette rear hub with 11T cog."
Advantages: Light, strong, durable, relatively cheap, looks great Disadvantages: None
...Awesome rear hub for the money. Made from 1 piece heat treated, forged 6061 aluminium and it runs on smooth, double lip sealed cartridge bearings. The hub has an international 6 bolt mounting. It is fairly light at 385g due to lots of weight saving holes in the flanges, although these do not affect the strength. The hub is fitted with a 3 pawl ratchet and steel freehub ensuring reliability and durability. The finish is either black or silver and has lazer etched graphics so they wont wear off easily, and they look smart. I have used one of these hubs for nearly two years now for street, downhill and commuting. I have never had a single problem with the hub, it has run smooth as silk from the day it was bought and has been used on an almost daily basis in all conditions with no maintenance whatsoever. If built correctly it will produce...

Advantages: Such a simple idea - nothing to remember or buy batteries for Disadvantages: Setting clearances of magnets is fiddly
...the drag on your poor legs infinitesimally small.
NO ORDINARY LIGHTS
Never a truer word, Chris. Not only do these lights have no on-off switch, being intended just as much as daylight running lights as they are for night use, but they can only flash (i.e. once magnets start going past them to generate the current). The do however flash at an even rate; not according to how fast you cycle.
FITTING
When fitted what you get is one rear light trailing backwards on a bracket bolted down by the offside rearwheel nut, and the front lamp, thrusting forwards from the corresponding offside front wheel nut. Unlike the picture supplied by Ciao, the brackets are open-ended so you don't need to completely remove any wheel nuts, just loosen them.
I'll freely admit that axle level is an odd height for a cycle light, and the smaller your wheels...

THE TECHY/SPECCY BITS
To mis-quote Chain Reaction, its attributes are (with a few notes from me):-
Compatible with 9 or 8-Speed cassettes – this really means that it has enough sideways movement to range over up to 9 gears. Also can be used for 7-speed, I know, I’ve done it!
Long-Life Pulleys with 11 teeth made of Zytel ® (Dupont) to reduce chain noise.
Max. Permissible Rear Gear Sprocket 27 Teeth
Min. Permissible Rear Gear Sprocket 11 Teeth (therefore it needs to be able to cope with [27-11=16] 16 teeth difference in chain length)
Front Difference of 22 Teeth (Most bikes also have a front dérailleur to shift the chain across say three cogs on the chain wheel – these are allowed a 22 teeth difference, for example you may have three cogs ranging from 22 through 32 to 44 teeth each.)

I honestly cannot wait for this game to come out. Halo Wars is a real time strategy game, much like the infamous Command & Conquer games made by Electronic Arts. Many of my friends are avid fans of C&C and are simply wetting themselves, waiting for this... more
