The Saab 9-5 Aero Estate

Advantages: Massively spacious, extremely quick and super comfortable, 250bhp!
Disadvantages: a bit thirsty, high insurance

God I miss my 9-5 Aero Estate! It was so practical, fast and comfortable. Whisking my 5 plus family to anywhere in England in style and comfort was always a bonus and for me the thought of a long drive was something to look forward too! I think it's rare to say that about any car these day's. The boot is massive and the seats fold down completely flat, making it about as big as an average panel van. The Aero comes with all the whistles and bells you may think of, such as Bi-Xenon lights, heated seats, full leather, electric seats, cruise control, the list is endless. The 250bhp engine is as smooth as silk and someone once told me it's faster than a Porche 911 between 40-70mph and believe me it feels it and because these are the typical speeds you start an overtaking manoevre at theres nothing more comforting than a car which takes ...

Review of Saab 9-5 Estate

Saab 9-5 Review

Advantages: Comfortable, supposedly reliable, cheap 2nd hand
Disadvantages: Unreliable, boring to drive, expensive to fix

Bought a 1998 Saab 9-5 with 90k miles and FSSH, expecting a few years of cheap motoring. The car has good specification inc. leather, climate control, electric windows, heated seat etc. Very good on motorways, comfotable seats and plenty of space. Until the failures it was a safe and comfortable car to own. The bad news is that despite maintaining a full service record, within 5k the Turbo blew which was £1200 to repair at Saab and 2 year later the big end bearing has gone (apparently quite a common failure). This is much more expensive as the engine needs replacing. The SID panel on the centre console is also unreliable and prone to failure, this is a common failing with Saabs. As such I am extremely unsatisfied with the Saab 9-5 and will never consider purchasing a Saab again. ...

Review of Saab 9-5 2.0t

Saab 9-5, what a beauty!!!

Advantages: Comfortable and good control. (Great safety.)
Disadvantages: Not as good for money

This is an Estate car. They are about £22,000 new or £16,000 for a 2nd hand 10,000 milage car. It has many features such as cruise control and SIPS (Side Impact Protection Safety.) Sweden, (from my point of view) make excellent quality cars. You can get bottom warmers installed but that is a tiny bit more expensive. The 9-5 2.0t, is a very powerful car, and before we bought it, we pushed it to the limits, and it did very well. It's gearbox is full automated and it has stereo controls on the steering wheel! Inner design is not over the top (OTT), it is an executive style. It is about 1.20metres high and a bit longer width and lenght than usual estate cars. I recommend this car to anyone who has this money. Although, for the money I think a few more features would make it the perfect car! It has good looks and handles roads well, security ...
