You have 2 handle bars which you push backward and forwards. Ok, you have to push your feet around on the pads in a clockwise circular motion and at the same time push the handlebars. Get it?? Its like ski-ing up hill. You can alter the footpads when you want a more uphill exercise and you have a knob ... ...computor programs to follow on this model. Basically its a line going around the screen. You have to keep up with it. As it goes around it clocks your distance, laps, time counting down from 20 minutes. Also it tells you how many calories. You start flat and go up hill and down hill and finish downhill. It depends what program you use as to how uphill. I use the 2nd program and I do 40 minutes of exercise.
