The surround has some small text on it, but to be honest, its too small to read and is for show only. ...wear - the watch is very light, and the rubber strap is soft and pliant - needs tightening a notch before a run though. The heart rate strap is very comfortable and is better made than others I've owned, (Timex and Oregon).
