Polar CS100 Heart Rate Monitor Advantages: Compact, Cheap, Robust Disadvantages: Tricky to use I have owned one of these for about 2 years now, and it is still going strong. It does all the usual cycle computer things, but also displays your heart rate, calories burned, etc. You can also programme to use on 2 separate bikes - very handy, when like me you have two bikes but don't want to shell out for two computers!! Stylish heart rate monitor Advantages: Looks good, very comfortable Disadvantages: Poor battery life, small buttons Stylish, lightweight heart rate monitor Likes This is a very good looking watch, mine has a dark face, black rubber strap and white surround and five, round chrome buttons. The surround has some small text on it, but to be honest, its too small to read and is for show only. The face is larger than many sports watches, but is very discrete, and can be set to a dark backlight, so you'd be pushed to know it was an HRM. I happily wear ... ...wear - the watch is very light, and the rubber strap is soft and pliant - needs tightening a notch before a run though. The heart rate strap is very comfortable and is better made than others I've owned, (Timex and Oregon). HR Monitoring Made Easy Advantages: Great range fo features, great accesories, reliable brand Disadvantages: Very expensive compared to other heart rate monitors ...different manufacturers, such as Polar, Suunto and Garmin amongst many others I decided to opt for a Suunto T3, which was not the cheapest and basic but it definitely is not at the top end either. It is described as ?the ideal heart rate monitor for casual use?. **What is it? The Suunto T3 is a training aid consisting of a watch and heart rate belt that measures your performance whilst carrying out any sports activity including running, cycling, ... ...exercise data in to a Suunto software package. The T3 does not have this capability, nor is there the opportunity to get this as an add-on. Whilst I would like the above feature I thought it was a bit too much and could not justify the additional cost for the model that had this function. Negatives** There is no multi user function and the T3 can only be set up for one person. Pray for the battery not failing Advantages: easy to use, accuracy Disadvantages: non green throw away transmitter when battery dies ...to boost their sales and profit?? They used a CR2032 battery and with normal use, they last about 1 year or so.
