Advantages: Comfort, value for money, weight
Disadvantages: difficult to clean

...I have owned a pair of karrimor ksb walking boots for about 4 years now. Mine are a sandy colour and will no doubt have been superceded by a new model! They are very minimalist in their design and not at all flashy, which I like. I use them maybe 6 or 7 times a year and they are still holding up well. I use them for hill walking in the spring to autumn in Scotland. As they are fabric boots you might expect them to let water in however I have never had any problems with this. I don't tent to go walking in extreme conditions, but them I have set out on glorious summer days and been caught out by thunder storms. My feet have always stayed dry, even when splashing through puddles. I find these boots quite narrow, which suits my feet, but this may not be suitable for all. Advantages: low on the tendon so comfy at the back of the foot
Disadvantages: midsole just not stiff enough for people of 13 stone

...I bought Scafell because I needed some lightweight waterproof walking boots and was bored with getting my feet soaked in soggy trainers. These might be waterproof, they certainly worked in some light rain for an hour but the soles just don't have the stiffness for anyone my weight 13.5st / 89Kg I feel every pebble, and its not nice. I normally walk on the North downs across fields and the paths are not that rough but I feel like my feet are being prodded and squished by every tiny item I stand on. To compare, my running trainers are much better at soaking up the bumps. Also the padding seems very thin around the toes making downhill walking prone to rubbing. If you are looking for lightweight shoes on very easy terrain and are say, half my weight you might consider them.... Read review

..., but not once did I twist my ankle. The boot has a great deal of support around the heel with lots of padding on the fabric inside lining. The overall boot is durable and also waterproof. It has a sewn in leather tongue so there are no gaps between the boot and the tongue as it is all in one to prevent water getting in to the inside of the boot. Technically you would be able to stand in water up to above your ankle in depth and not get wet as the leather creates a waterproof cover (providing you keep the boot care up and look after it). The boot is also breathable so it limits sweating from your feet with in the foot. **********Quality********** Peter Storm is a very well known and respected make in the 'outdoors' industry.
