These Boots are Made for Walking
Advantages: My feet are in love with these boots Disadvantages: They're not cheap
...love with a pair of Brasher Supalites and I didn't have the heart to say no. With a 10% discount they cost me £108 and he assured me they were worth every penny.
Bad Boot History
****************
At this stage I'd been fighting the need to buy proper boots. As a student I studied geology and spent a lot of wet miserable weeks plodding over mountains with wet feet. In my book, proper boots weighed a tonne and took a lot of looking after. We used ... ...you've gotta love em.
Brasher Superlites need:
To be worn and loved
To be treated once in a blue moon with a specialist cream that doesn't block the Goretex pores
Things you shouldn't do in Brashers
Let a guy on the side of the street clean them for you, however much he begs and pleads - ordinary polish will block your goretex
Lend them to your friends - they'll never give them back
Really hard ...

Disapointing Footwear
Advantages: Kept feet Dry Disadvantages: Dont last and poorly manafactured
I have been extremely disappointed with my Gortex Hillmaster walking boots.
I am now on my third pair, the first 2 pairs had to be replaced because the ankle supports split,
Now the third have completely worn down on the heels exposing the soft spongy substance underneath.
This has happened in just over 1 year despite most of my walking being done on soft ground, I have nothing unusual about my walking style and am not overweight.
These boots ... ...and at the price they are, you would expect something better. I will never buy a pair of these boots again as in my opinion they most certainly don’t represent good value for money.
I have purchased boots in the past that have cost about one quarter of the cost yet they have lasted a least four times as long. ...

Review of Merrell Women's Chameleon Arc Mid Boot
Advantages: Good comfort & support Disadvantages: Not waterproof
Buy one and a half sizes up from your normal size. I am a size six and a half normally, and would not have been comfortable in anything other that the size eight that I bought. The boots are NOT waterproof, even after the first use in mildly wet conditions. I will have to buy a spray to see if I can make them waterproof. I had read other reviews saying that these boots were not waterproof, but decided to go for them anyway and waterproof them myself ... ...They are very comfortable & supportive. I bought these particularly for the arch support, as I have plantar faciitis. I had two blisters after first use, on the inside edge of my right foot, but this seemed to be just a case of wearing them in. Seemed fine on second wearing. ...

Wonderful walking boots for snow-terrains
Advantages: Comfortable, warm, suitable for the purpose Disadvantages: Only really useful in snowy / icy weather
Winter wonderland outside. All is glistening and white, pristine snow. Beautiful to look at, fun to play. Brings out the child in all of us. Out come the sledges, warm coats, colourful hats, scarves and gloves. But there is always the question: what to wear on your feet? Wellies make your feet feel cold, even when you wear thick socks. Sensible shoes are ok but your feet soon get wet. Walking boots, especially those designed for walking on snow-covered ... ...the factors you should consider when buying walking boots for snow-covered terrain? 1. They should be fit for the purpose. 2. They need to be comfortable. 3. They need to be roomy enough to allow you to wear thick, warm socks 4. They need to be waterproof. 5. They need to have a good grip so that you won't slip on the snow. 6. They need to be adjustable, so that you can easily loosen them to put them on / remove them. 7. If possible, there should ...

these shoes are made for walking
Advantages: long lasting, ideal changing weather Disadvantages: you get so used to wearing them you don't like going out in your heels!
...are the third pair of Salomon shoes I’ve owned and I don’t think I will ever buy a different brand of walking shoe again. I live in a hilly area and don’t have a car and therefore do a lot of walking, not only are they incredibly comfortable but they keep my feet dry in the wettest of weather but at the same time circulate air and therefore I’ve never had the ‘smelly trainer’ problem. Basically they are warm and dry in winter and cool in the summer.
... ...also wear them for more challenging walking, for example coastal path walks.
My last pair lasted over three years with consistent use but not until the very end did they show any sign of their age.
I also, and I know this is a very personal preference, find them much more attractive than a normal trainer. ...
