Peter Storm is a very well known and respected make in the 'outdoors' industry. They have been around for many years and have used their experience to make their products to a high standard. These sturdy boots are also recommended by the Duke of Edinburgh Award as a 'high performance' pair of boots to have as part of your expedition kit list. So it's not just me that agrees they are a good buy!

Peter Storm is often a slightly cheaper make to other competitors like North Face, Regatta, Gore-Tex or Berghaus. These boots had an RRP of 49.99GBP, however now it is 59.99GBP. When I bought mine there was an offer for half price gaiters at the same time so it's worth asking if they have any offers on at the time. (Gaiters are a piece of material that attaches to your boot and is zipped up your leg to your calf/ ...
Advantages: low on the tendon so comfy at the back of the foot Disadvantages: midsole just not stiff enough for people of 13 stone
I bought Scafell because I needed some lightweight waterproof walking boots and was bored with getting my feet soaked in soggy trainers. These might be waterproof, they certainly worked in some light rain for an hour but the soles just don't have the stiffness for anyone my weight 13.5st / 89Kg I feel every pebble, and its not nice. I normally walk on the North downs across fields and the paths are not that rough but I feel like my feet are being ... ...To compare, my running trainers are much better at soaking up the bumps. Also the padding seems very thin around the toes making downhill walking prone to rubbing.
If you are looking for lightweight shoes on very easy terrain and are say, half my weight you might consider them. ...
Advantages: Good comfort & support Disadvantages: Not waterproof
Buy one and a half sizes up from your normal size. I am a size six and a half normally, and would not have been comfortable in anything other that the size eight that I bought. The boots are NOT waterproof, even after the first use in mildly wet conditions. I will have to buy a spray to see if I can make them waterproof. I had read other reviews saying that these boots were not waterproof, but decided to go for them anyway and waterproof them myself ... ...They are very comfortable & supportive. I bought these particularly for the arch support, as I have plantar faciitis. I had two blisters after first use, on the inside edge of my right foot, but this seemed to be just a case of wearing them in. Seemed fine on second wearing. ...
Advantages: Comfortable, warm, suitable for the purpose Disadvantages: Only really useful in snowy / icy weather
Winter wonderland outside. All is glistening and white, pristine snow. Beautiful to look at, fun to play. Brings out the child in all of us. Out come the sledges, warm coats, colourful hats, scarves and gloves. But there is always the question: what to wear on your feet? Wellies make your feet feel cold, even when you wear thick socks. Sensible shoes are ok but your feet soon get wet. Walking boots, especially those designed for walking on snow-covered ... ...the factors you should consider when buying walking boots for snow-covered terrain? 1. Advantages: Kept feet Dry Disadvantages: Dont last and poorly manafactured
I have been extremely disappointed with my Gortex Hillmaster walking boots.
I am now on my third pair, the first 2 pairs had to be replaced because the ankle supports split,
Now the third have completely worn down on the heels exposing the soft spongy substance underneath.
This has happened in just over 1 year despite most of my walking being done on soft ground, I have nothing unusual about my walking style and am not overweight.
These boots ... ...and at the price they are, you would expect something better. I will never buy a pair of these boots again as in my opinion they most certainly don’t represent good value for money.
I have purchased boots in the past that have cost about one quarter of the cost yet they have lasted a least four times as long. ...
