WARNING: Do not join Holmes Place - any of them
Holmes Place is a chain of gyms, if any of you were previously unaware. I was told when I joined that I could cancel my corporate membership if I went abroad for work, so when this situation arose I filled in a form and heard nothing from them for 3 months and so I thought it was all ok until a debt collection agency started harassing me out of the blue for the remainder of the contract money - over £400! Holmes Place had not tried to contact me whatsoever in the meantime so this was a great shock and I am considering taking legal advice on the matter.
As an additional point, all the clubs have substandard machines and facilities and should not be considered by anyone serious about training or getting fit. I have found staff in nearly of the clubs I have visited to be rude, unhelpful and badly trained. It is also advisable to be very careful when using lockers as many do not work properly and I have had money and credit cards stolen from one by either a member of staff or another member.
