I am a member of Cricklewood and all I do is use the pool facilities. I agree with lots of other people, that it is getting crowded and they are getting greedy.
When I get a lane to myself I love it as I just swim and swim and swim but that is rather rare. I am slow swimmer, hence I swim in the slow lane but others do not obey these rules. Last night there was what I class as a fast swimmer in the slow lane. I presume she either couldn't read or just fancied my lane as it was empty except for me.
Well she kept over-taking me and the lifeguard just sits there and does absolutely nothing.
There are supposed to be three lanes and a large extra space but sometimes they have an aqua class and they take a lane away and boy, oh boy does it get crowded. Not only does it get crowded but these aqua ladies do a lot of jumping around and you feel as if you are swimming in the atlantic! Then at the end they all rush into the jacuzzi and it is jam-packed with people. So thats a bit of a nightmare.
The lazy lifeguard, as I mentioned before, usually doesnt put the lanes back after the class unless you tell him to.
The next annoying thing is sometimes there is a swimming lesson in one of the lanes. So you are happily swimming along and then this big lady comes with her pupil, changes the sign to 'Class in progress' and ushers you out of the lane. Its a real pain, the management need to be more loyal to the paying members and not just the people that pay extra for classes.
The other problems I have is that the towels are too small (I am 6 foot tall) and the showers always have bits of hair floating around them. I have requested for a payphone in the womans' changing room as I don't have a mobile and they do have a payphone in Hendon Holmes place....
Moan moan moan, I know but I'm telling you how it really is. Plus my friend has a 2 yr old child who has to pay to be a member and also has to pay to use the creche. Everything seems to be extra payments here and there and it is expensive as it is.
