This was the best gym in Manchester and has great facilities and a good-sized pool. However, the takeover by Virgin Active looks set to take it downmarket. Stingy cutbacks such as removing sweat towels and only handing one bath-towel out are the start. There are fears that the Womens' Gym area is to go and that the classes will be reduced and use in-house formats instead of the excellent BodySystems training. Its a shame as there is now a major gap in the Manchester gym market for a classy well-equipped gym which offers all the trimmings. It is a shame that Virgin are not upgrading this gym to one of their Classic brands - an opportunity missed. Great staff and trainers here, and well-managed and maintained.
