I have been a member for 3 years now and find it to be one of the more desirable gyms in Nottingham. It is very well located on London Road, Trent Bridge, which means it is very close to town but not at all difficult to get to like some of the more city based gyms. It has it's own private CCTV carpark, where you will find many an expensive sporty car, porsches, mercs, BMWs etc, which I find very reassuring as I have had my roof slashed at another gym recently. But don't be put if you drive a more modest car, there are plenty of them too! Infact the good thing about this particular gym is that it is not 'clicky' with an overbearing social scene around the bar. The bar serves healthy juices with boosters and shots and is very health orientated.
Being female and often going on my own I make full use of the ladies only gym and the classes. The classes run off a timetable and there is something for everybody from yoga to spinning from beginner level to advanced.
Towels are provides free of charge and everybody uses them which I say is a major plus, as there's nothing worse than having to use a piece of equipment with someone elses sweat all over it! Water fountains are all over the place so you can rehydrate frequently. A good selection of weights, dumbells and mats for floorwork are available too, including those abshaper crunch frames.
The one thing I think that stands out the most about this club is the pool. It is big, serene, relaxing and very clean. It almost feels like you are in a 5 star resort in the carribbean!
The changing rooms are very good, plenty of large wooden lockers, shower cubicles with quality shower gel and body lotion provided, sauna & steam room, also a nice dressing room with mirrors, hairdryers and stools, great for doing your hair and makeup if you are going straight out. They are cleaned very regularly too.
There is a good mix of people at the gym, all ages and abilities. I would probably say that most of the men go on their own, with the women in pairs with a friend, but there are also couples training together and women on their own too. I never felt uncomfortable going on my own, or with friends or partners. There are members of staff and personal trainers around for advice but not so yo feel like you are being watched!
