Good all round product but limited resistance
Review of Total Gym 1000 by

Advantages: Lots of exercises, easy to switch between exercises, more portable than a multigym, excellent value for money.
Disadvantages: Not enough resistance, unable to allow for proper form on some exercises
I have a Total Gym, which I bought when work pressures prevented from going to the gym. For many exercises it's a fantastic alternative and it lets you do so much on what is effectively a small machine. A lot people call these kind of machines gimmicks but I very doubt many of them have actually used one. I'd been used to free weights and found the Total Gym a good replacement. I paid around 200 pounds for Power Gym. It comes to you already assembled, apart from a couple of easy little tweaks, has a DVD and a comprehensive instruction book which also includes a 12 day diet plan.
This piece ... ...Not only can you do pilates, you can also use it for muscle building too so is great for both men and women. No bulky weights, it uses you own body weight for resistance, it has adjustable height settings and also tension bands to intensify your workout.
If you can only afford one piece of fitness equipment I would highly recommend this one. If you buuy it from Thane Direct you also get a 30 day money back guarantee (as long as you send it back ...
